Pavano Could Return Before Hughes?

From George A King III:
Dropping him into the clubhouse might prove to be too much of a challenge, but there is a chance Carl "American Idle" Pavano could be ready to pitch for the Yankees New York Yankees before Phil Hughes Phil Hughes .

"I haven't asked, but it's possible," GM Brian Cashman said last night. "Pavano should be ready by August and Hughes in August."

Considering Pavano, who is trying to rebound from last year's Tommy John surgery, is throwing curveballs off a mound and Hughes (fractured rib) isn't even on a mound, Pavano would be considered ahead of Hughes.

"The rehabs are different," Cashman said. "Phil Hughes will start throwing from flat ground, but it won't be as long (as Pavano's)."
Imagine Pavano comes back, has a good August and September, and leads the Yankees to the playoffs?

Well I can't.

It would be nice if he did contribute something to this team, but I just don't see it happening.
I'd be very surprise if he ever pitched for the Yankees again. He may be in line for an August return, but we all know he's going to have several setbacks in his rehab.

If I may:

*from the mouth of John Sterling*

"Well Pavano makes his return to the Yankees in his first start since the dinosaurs died and hes all set and were ready for baseball. Heres the first pitch: fastball on the outside corner for stike one and were underway. Wait....Pavano has called Posada out to the mound. Oh you've got to be kidding me. Here comes the trainers and Girardi. It appears as though Carl Pavano's pitching arm is fine but he has a terribly painful hang nail. Clearly hes in agony and Joe is going to the bullpen. So....welcome back Carl and have a good day Carl."

True story.

lol, Yea I could see that happening. I mean this is the same guy who had his rehab delayed once because of a bruised buttock.

Better yet...

Sterling: "Well Pavano makes his return to the Yankees in his first start since the dinosaurs died and hes all set and were ready for baseball. Heres the first pitch: fastball on the outside corner for stike one and were underway. Pavano sets; looks in for the sign...Wait....There is a subway on the field! A subway derailed from the tracks behind right field and has come onto the field! Abreu and Cano leap out of the way, and it's headed right towards Carl Pavano! Gee Suzyn, I do hope he can get out of the way in time. Aaaaaaaand....no, Carl Pavano has been run over by a subway on the pitchers mound! Oh my, the Goodyear Blimp has just crashed right onto the bloody heap that is Carl Pavano and exploded! Oh, the humanity! I hate to say it, but Carl Pavano might be done for the season!"

Suzyn: "Goodness gracious, of all the dramatic things I've seen!!"
