6/29 Minor League Report

================

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight.
He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will
post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (43-32) beat Rochester (37-39) 5-0 in game 1 of today's doubleheader: Box Score - Recap

PITCHING: Ivan Nova, just promoted from AA Trenton, made his AAA debut for SWB. Nova flirted with a no-hitter until 2 outs in the 6th inning. The 22 year old righty was sitting 92-94 with his fastball, and showed a very nice curve, getting all 5 of his strikeouts on good curves. He worked fast and has a nice free and easy motion. Thru the first 5 innings he allowed only 2 base runners, a leadoff walk in the 2nd, and 2-out walk in the 4th. In the 6th, he walked the lead off man. He then picked up his 5th strikeout. The next batter hit a line drive single off the tip of shortstop Doug Bernier's glove that broke up the no-hit bid . He was then relieved by Albaladejo. A very impressive AAA debut as Nova picked up the win (1-0). Nova's line: 5.2 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 5 K's--3 walks 90 pitches--56 strikes, 7 GO--5 FO

BULLPEN: Jonathan Albaladejo relieved Nova in the 6th with 2 out and runners on 1st and 2nd. He got a groundout to end the threat. Albaladejo got 2 quick outs in the 7th before giving up a double. He got a strikeout to end the game. Alabaledjo picked up his 4th save.

OFFENSE: Phil Humber got the start for Rochester. The Twins picked Humber up as part of the Santana deal with the Mets. In the 3rd, Austin Jackson got a 2-out double. Colin Curtis drove Jackson in with a RBI double, followed by a Shelley Duncan RBI single (65) to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead. Humber retired the next 8 Yankees he faced until 1 out in the 6th. S. Duncan and Juan Miranda singled, Eric Duncan followed with a 3-run homer (2) to give the Yanks the 5-0 win.
