News & Notes

Break up the Yankees:
In their last 32 games they're 24-8, and they're now two and a half games ahead of the Red Sox for first place. They're 18-8 in July and since Alex Rodriguez returned they're 49-25.

- The Yankees are second in the American League with a 27-23 record on the road, behind only the Angels who are 28-20.

- Here's what Mark Teixeira told Marc Carig about the Yankees after their quiet trade deadline day: "We have everything we need here to win."

- He's also reporting that Jonathan Albaladejo has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make room for Shelley Duncan.

- Both starters have never faced the opposing team.

- Nick Swisher has a six-game hitting streak.

- On the current road trip the Yankees are just 8-for-37 (.216) with runners in scoring position.

  1. Just wanna say that I absolutely hate the White Sox answers. They are so terrible and outrageously annoying.

  2. LOL!! I meant "announcers." Not sure how I ended up typing "answers." lol

    ReplyDelete
  3. Oh hahahah, yea Hawk Harleson sucks.

Nice quick 2-0 lead for the Yanks and hopefully that grows to at least three.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 3-0!

Good, since we might need some runs tonight with Mitre going.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Son of a bitch. He had two outs, and then it all went to shit on him.

This is why a deal should've been made today for a starter. Especially since Joba is approaching his innings limit.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mitre is fine as a 5th starter. But the problem is Joba has an innings limit and will be skipped or be put in the bullpen. That is why the yanks needed to add a number 3 or 4 starter. Mitre could of been in used in the bullpen as the long man and then pitched when Joba was going to be skipped.

But now we will have a roster with both Hairston Jr and Ransom. I dont know why we need to utility players.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ransom will probably go once Hairston joins the team tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why or why did we not get another starter at the deadline? Hopefully someone comes through on waivers.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Why oh why, I mean, haha. Seriously though, we either need to eliminate Joba's innings limit and hope for the best or hopefully get someone through waivers.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Cashman, you'd better be on the phone for plan B, cause this guy sucks

    ReplyDelete
  11. we are the YANKEES , do we really have to take other teams castoffs to throw up against the wall to see what sticks, seriously,

    ReplyDelete
  12. This guy sucks. So doesn't Cashman. Cashman doesn't have a clue on how to run a team. He trades for another utility guy when Pena was doing fine. He gets no pitcher at the trade deadline and no bat. How dumb. He is so prideful and arrogatn to show people he can build a team with HIS draft picks. When he can't. He can't evaluate talent to save his ass.

And, I hate Posada. He sucks as a catcher and killed our 1st inning rally with ANOTHER gidp.

And, they shouldnt have blown the game last night. This team wont win in the playoffs. They aren't good enouhg. Their defense is poor and they will make those mistakes in big games.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, BTW, I keep forgetting but the old school logos on the game threads are awesome! I need to start collecting them all.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Cashman looks real bad right now Mitre is getting lit up on the last day of the trade deadline. We didn’t need a pitcher we needed another utility player.

    ReplyDelete
  15. swing at the first pitch jorge, idiot, kill that rally,

    ReplyDelete
  16. this guy blows, i cant believe we didnt pick up a stater.

o and Mitre is scheduled to start the opening game of the Sox series :(

  18. Posada the Yankee killer, both at the plate and behind it.

5 runs in 3 innings. Take him out Girardi. Oh thats right you can't because you have no other options because Cashman is a moron.

I guarantee you this team will not win in the playoffs. Its the same old team, they can't beat decent teams and are in love with old players that kill them.

    ReplyDelete
  19. why didn't we try to unload Molina to bring up Cervelli, & there's no way Mitre will start vs the SUX? at least i hope so

    ReplyDelete
  20. The yankees should use Aceves as the 5th starter. Put Mitre in the bullpen as the long man. And give Melancon a shot at pitching the 7th. Use Melancon more as a 1 inning reliever instead of a long man.

    ReplyDelete
  21. HINSKE WITH YOUR BEST SHOT!!

2-run bomb Eric Hniske, game tied at 5.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes it is.

David Robertson is warming up, so that most likely means Mitre is, or close to, done.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yep Mitre's done, Robertson is in.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hinske good shit! The Yanks really fucked up bad by not getting pitching help.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think Robertson does better when starting the inning, and not coming in with runners or or in a tight situation, kinda like what they did with JOBA last yr.

    ReplyDelete
  26. god you suck JORGE, come on Cano, cash in on this GIFT

    ReplyDelete
  27. sometimes Cano just looks like a space cadet, those lackadasical swings kill me

    ReplyDelete
  28. its gonna take at least 10 runs to win this game, geez,

    ReplyDelete
  29. This is just gonna be an ugly game. Regardless of who wins....

    ReplyDelete
  30. well the cheaters (boston) already won, so we need to win tonight, WTF, have we fogotten how to HIT w/ RISP.. after the first inning, we suck

    ReplyDelete
  31. We need to win this game. Come on boy's!!!! LET'S GO YANKEES!

    ReplyDelete
  32. ooooooooooooooh...

Matsui just missed a game-tying shot.

    ReplyDelete
  33. JORGE go home to your wife w/ her fake TATA's, you F,,,ing bum...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mario, you're becoming as annoying as the stupid-ass Anon.

    ReplyDelete
  35. sorry had a bad day at work, just really cranky, didn'[t sleep much lastnight,

    ReplyDelete
  36. if a player retires with say 1 yr left on his contract, how does it affect the payroll, etc? anyone know, just curious

    ReplyDelete
  37. why is mario annoying? Cuz Posada sucks? Posada is fking terrible.

Lets see 1 run in 8 innings last night WITHOUT Posada and 1 run in 1 inning with Posada. Tonight, 10 runs total and he has cost ust even more with his poor defense and bat. Posada SUCKS and this team will never win with him in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  38. posada has been a disaster this game at the plate and just this inning throwing through to second to let the runner from 3rd steal home and then cano throwing home on a short hop posada lets it get past him....2 1/2 more years of him swinging at first pitches and grounding into DPs

    ReplyDelete
  39. Cashman's inaction will be the end of the 2009 Yankees. Mitre looked terrible tonight, he clearly doesn't have what it take up here.

So now they're stuck with a guy who can't pitch at this level, pitching every five days. And then there's always the point when Joba hits his innings limit. At that point the Yankees will probably have two guys in the rotation who can't get outs.

Besides that, it's looking more and more like they needed another bullpen arm as well.

    ReplyDelete
  40. what a shitshow... all of a sudden this team looks like it sucks again just like in Anaheim.

    ReplyDelete
  41. and I forgot to add that Boston already won tonight so the lead will be down to 1.5, and they now have V-Mart and Kotchman, and we have Hairston Jr.

    ReplyDelete
  42. i agree Greg.. we could be looking at some rocky times ahead..

    ReplyDelete
  43. yep, Boston looks poised to take back the division and win it

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thats because Cashman sucks. Not only do they need a starter but they need BP help too. Cashman's a fool. No reason for it either.

Sit Posada and call up a real catcher. This is the garbage you have to put up with him and he is not worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hopefully this is the end of the Cashman era. I usually defend him but his inaction today was indefensible. Like I said earlier, he should be fire for this. For him to believe this team could win as it is shows how short-sighted he is.

And what stopped him from getting a pitcher they might need? $650 K.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow, what is A-Rod thinking?

He doesn't run hard, and then for no reason tries to go to second down five runs. What a moron.

So now besides playing poorly, they're playing undisciplined baseball too.

    ReplyDelete
  47. this was one of the ugliest games i think ive seen from the yanks all season

    ReplyDelete
  48. Today was a really bad day to be a Yankees fan.

    ReplyDelete
  49. we cant beat any team that has the word "Sox" in its name

the up and down roller coaster continues, we look great at times and then like today we look like absolute dog shit

    ReplyDelete
  50. Arods play is the epitome of what this team and Cashman are about. This is the type of player that CAshman signs and pays $30m a year for (and pays Posada $10m) but wont pull a deal for a measely $650k.

And, the reason Cashman didn't make a trade is simple. He knows he stinks at it and didn't want to make himself look bad publicly by giving up more young players to get nothing players like Nady and Marte. Those are the kind of trades Cashman makes. Terrible ones. He sucks as a GM, plain and simple.

    ReplyDelete
  51. "Today was a really bad day to be a Yankees fan."

Tough to win games when your starter goes 3 innings. Cashman looks dumb not adding a bullpen arm or another starter during the deadline.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Sam Cooke playing in the Yankees locker room. Sadly a change didn't come today for the Yanks roster.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Instead of a starting pitcher or bullpen arm. Cashman traded for another utility player. Great now the roster has both Ransom and Hairston.

All the pitching mess is Cashman fault. He relied on guys like Edwar, Veras, Albaledejo and Marte to be in the bullpen. All struggled so he took the starting pitching depth from scranton Hughes, Aceves and put them in to fix the bullpen. Kennedy had surgeory and now they are thin with pitchers. He knows they are thin in pitching and yet he didn't add any type of arm. What a dope.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jarrod Washburn would of been the final peice. He would of been a great number 3 starter. Cashman dropped the ball.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ok seriously, People need to shut up about Posada, hes not the problem!!

Now, Oviously I hope that Joba pitches in the rotation the rest of the year but...

With Mitri being the 5th starter and us realy having no options in the minors, I really dont think Cashman would get away with taking Joba out of the rotation because if he did, it could realy basicly end this team's season...I just don't think The Steinbrenners, the media, or the fans would stand for it, not to mention if the Yanks miss the playoffs, Cashmans job could be on the line.

It would just look so ridiculous if a Yankee team in a Pennant race, who has 1 big whole in the rotation to make another one!

CC, AJ, Joba, Pettite, can make the playoffs and beyond but we cant get by with a 3 man rotation...

Joba staying in the rotation is the key to the entire Yankee Season!!!!

This is serious people, if you really want to win this year!!

    -JAY

    ReplyDelete
  56. Unless you want Joba to turn out like Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, Fausto Carmona, Francisco Lirano, etc., they have to take him out of the rotation. All the more reason they should have brought in a pitcher today.
