Four Players Inclduing Mike Dunn Coming Up

John Heyman via his Twitter page is reporting that the Yankees will call up Francisco Cervelli, Ramiro Pena, Mark Melancon, and Mike Dunn tomorrow.

Like I said earlier today, I'm very interested in seeing Dunn pitch at this level. In 37 games with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Dunn is 3-3, with 2 saves, and a 3.34 ERA. In 72.2 innings pitched, he's allowed 27 ER and 58 hits, he's also walked 46 and struck out 98. With Scranton he had a 2.33 ERA in 11 games.

I am really excited to see Dunn. A lefty that throws that hard is very hard to find. If he has a good september he probably would make the team next year out of spring training similar to Coke.

Glad to see Melancon back he was pitching very well before he got sent down.

One more thing about Melancon. With the Yanks having a nice lead. Melancon has already got his feet wet at the major league level this year. I would love if Girardi put Melancon in a high leverage situation sometime this month and see's how he reacts.

With Hughes most likely going into the rotation next year. That opens up a big spot I wonder if Melancon can take it.

I wish Girardi had the cajones to put Melancon in a high leverage spot. Girardi was a bit too gunshy with him in previous visits to the big club. I'm with you. I want to see him in some bigger spots and give him a chance to earn some trust.

I completely agree. I'd love to see Melancon and eventually Dunn get used in big spots down the stretch. They will both probably have major roles in the pen next year and all the work they can get in this year will only help in the future.

I agree especially because the yanks have a nice lead. Melancon has a 3.18 era with 1.15 whip with the yanks. He has been pitching very well. He also only walked 1 batter in his last 8 innings of work with the yankees. His control was getting much better before he got sent down.

@ Greg

I could see them being a little gun shy with Dunn. This is his first time up. But Melancon already got his feet wet. His last stint he was up almost a month with the yankees. I would be so disappointed if they only just used him in mop up situations this time up.

Glad to see Pena and Cervelli come back up. With Posada's bruised finger he can sub Molina and Cervelli in a game. He is probably going to get more days off so he doesn't aggravate it for the playoffs.
