Yankee Stadium Sign Ready to Come Down

As you can see above the demolition crews over at the old stadium are ready to begin taking down the letters in from the "YANKEE STADIUM" sign starting with the "I". These letters, as I mentioned here last week, were purchased by Reggie Jackson, and he plans to display them on his property.

The picture above comes from WCBS880's Tom Kaminski. You can see a couple more here.

I'm not sure that buying them is so cool.
Are they going to fall under the category of "Seemed like a good idea at the time"?

lol I assume so. I wonder if he realizes just how big those things are.

Greg, you hear about Favre? Unbelievable.

I'm so sick of Brett Farve. Just retire already. Hasn't he embarrassed himself enough with his NFC championship game performance and last year's collapse?

He's worse then Clemens with the retired/unretired non-sense. I just wish he'd go back to Mississippi or wherever hes from and call it quits for good.

I agree, totally a "seemed like a good idea at the time". Like a Snuggie or anything on QVC at 3am while under the influence of anything.

What is Reggie going to do with all those letters? Each one is the size of a garage probably, dude may not have enough room in his backyard.

It'd be really cool if Reggie donated them to the local park and have them displayed on their baseball fields.

That's a great idea Bryan.

I realized how big they were when I last went to the stadium. I also wonder if he'll randomly rearrange the letters to spell other things

It would be nice if WCBS let me use these photos on MY site...lol.

I wonder what zoning regulations there are in Reggie's area? Most have height limits on fences, I wonder what they'll say about 15 foot high letters! :)

He will rearrange the letters to spell: "Mr. October" (who said he can spell)
