Hey Phillies Fans, Be Careful What You Wish For

Apparently Phillies fans are dying to get a shot at the mighty mighty New York Yankees. Well, they just might get what they want.

From John Anastasi:
"We have to play the Yankees so we can prove ourselves. We know we're that good."
Fans who'd traveled south to Citizens Bank Park to watch the Phillies punch their ticket to their second consecutive World Series witnessed a home run derby. Like Allen, many of them did not hesitate when asked which American League team they wanted in the World Series.

"Yankees," said Marlton's Steve Fortino. "I think they beat the Yankees."

Bring on the Yankees!
That was the rally cry outside Chambers 19 Bistro & Bar in Doylestown on Wednesday night.

What about the Angels, who will try to extend the American League Championship Series when they take on New York tonight?

Forgetaboutit!

"Every Phillies fan wants to play the Yankees," said Alex Shapiro of Doylestown. "It would mean more than beating any other team in baseball."

Brian Carvalho, also of Doylestown, said the Phillies would match up well in the World Series against the Bronx Bombers.

"I think, we'll win in six games if we play the Yankees," he said. "Money doesn't buy championships, heart does."
Bring on the Yankees. If we play them it’ll be a heck of a match-up; a slugfest. It’d be amazing to take down LA and then New York.” — Matt Benchener, Newtown Township

“I’m hoping they play the Yankees, because they’ll get more exposure and ratings.” — Ed Markey, Yardley

“There’s a lot of parity with the Phillies line-up and the Yankees line-up. I think it’s even but you gotta give the edge to the Phillies. Every aspect of the game I give to the Phillies. They’ve progressed every year since they’ve been in the playoffs.” — Pat Markey, Yardley

“It was sweeter last year because it was a long drought. But if we beat the Yankees all bets are off. This will be the sweetest.” — John Arters, Falls

“It shows all the naysayers that it wasn’t a fluke last year. The Yankees are going down.” - Councilman John Scheetz
There was also this from another PhillyBurbs article:
"Yankees Suck," "Beat the Yankees" chants after Phils went up 6-2.
They also got on Manny Ramirez all series with "steroids" chats as well as playing an anti-steroid ad as Manny took his position in left. So Alex, prepare for the worst.
