VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUE:

Francisco Cervelli--C--Lara--- Cervelli hasn't played in a couple weeks and is apparently done. He only appeared in 6 games hitting .214 (3-14). In 2009 he hit .298 (28-94) in 42 games for New York.

Romulo Sanchez--RHP--Lara----Sanchez relieved in 2 games this week. 2.0 IP, 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 K. VWL totals: 26.2 IP, 12 ER, 19 hits, 32 K-14 walks. His 2009 AAA totals: 64.2 IP, 29 ER, 66 Hits, 64 K's--34 walks.

Reegie Corona--INF--Maganelles--Cervelli continued his fine winter league going 8-24 this week with 2 doubles, 2 rbis and 6 runs. VWL totals: .345, 16 doubles, 29 runs, 16 rbis, OBP .456. In 2009 at Trenton and SWB he hit .257, 69 runs, 40 rbi.

Josh Schmidt--RHP-- Zulia----Schmidit made his 10th start this week going 7.1 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and 5 walks. He also added 10 strikeouts. VWL totals: 55.1 IP, 23 ER, 48 hits, BAA. .236. Schmidt had a very good year in 09 at Trenton going 8-4, 1.61 ERA. 83.2 IP, 15 ER, 57 hits, 96 K's---38 walk

Juan Marcano--LHP--Caribes---The young lefty pitcher just started winter ball this week appearing in 1 game. He tossed 2.1 innings, 3 ER, 3 hits (HR), 2 K's--1 walk. In 2009 he played at the Domincan summer league picking up 70 K's in 45 innings. 11 ER, 2.20 ERA, BAA .166.

Luis Nunez--INF--Zulia---Nunez has played sparingly in winter ball. He appeared in 1 game this week going 2-4 with a strikeout. VWL totals: .295, 7 rbi, 3 doubles. He hit .276 between Tampa and SWB in 09.

MEXICAN WINTER LEAGUE:

Ramiro Pena--INF----Pena went 4-17 this week with a double and rbi. MWL totals: .304, 4 rbi, 7 runs. In 2009 at NY he hit .287.

Jon Weber--OF--Mazatlan--Weber was signed to a minor league deal by the Yankees recently. He went 7-23 this week with his 5th home run, 4 runs and 2 rbis. MWL totals: .380, 5 HR, 27 rbi, 23 runs. In 2009 he played in the Tampa organization at AAA Durham where he hit .302, with 14 homers, 69 rbi, .382 OBP.

Jorge Vasquez--1B--Culiacan--Vasquez had an amazing week hitting 4 homers in 5 games, 7 rbi, 5 runs and a double. MWL totals: .267, 9 HR, 21 rbi, 13 runs, OBP .357. In 2009 at AA Trenton hit .329, 56 rbi, 13 homers and 15 doubles in 225 at bats.

Walter Ibarra--INF--Hermosillo---Ibarra's been used mostly as a pinch runner-pinch hitter. He played in only 1 game this week as a pinch runner and scored a run. MWL totals: .296 (16-54), 4 rbi, 10 runs, double. In 2009 at A-Tampa Ibarra hit .265, 38 runs, 16 rbi.

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE:

Juan Miranda--1B---Licey---Miranda hasn't played in a couple weeks and is apparently finished. He had a great winter league. .425 (17-40), 2 HR, 11 rbi, 8 runs, 4 doubles, OBP .467. In 09 at SWB he hit .290 with 19 homers, 82 rbi, 30 doubles, OBP .369

Wilkins Arias--Aguilas--RHP---Arias relieved in 3 games this week for 2.0 IP, 0 runs, 1 hit, 4 K's, DWL totals; 23 games, 15.2 IP, 9 ER, 17 hits, 18 K's--4 walks. In 2009 at AA Trenton, he went 5-4 with a 3.65 ERA., 61.2 IP, 53 hits, 25 runs, 66 K's---22 walks.

Abraham Almonte--OF--Escogido---Almonte's seen action mostly as a pinch runner-pinch hitter in winter ball. He pinch hit in 1 game this week going 0-1. DWL totals: .313, 1 double, 3 rbi, 6 runs. In 09 at A-Charleston he hit .280, 56 rbi, 36 stolen bases.

PUERTO RICAN WINTER LEAGUE:

Amaury Sanit---RHP---Mayaguez---Sanit hasn't pitched in a couple weeks so he's probably finished. PRWL totals: 4.1 IP, 4 ER, 9 hits. In 09 at SWB, 4.13 ERA, 11 ER, 27 hits, 13 K's--7 walks.
