The Series Ahead: Yankees Vs Orioles

Yankees - Orioles
@ Yankee Stadium
(3 Games)

The Yankees finish up a six game home stand with a three game set against the Orioles. The Yankees have won 7 of their first 8 series and should make that 8 of 9 after this three one. The real story of the series will develop tonight when Jeremy Guthrie, who has 19 career HBP, 9 of which are Yankees, takes the mound for the Orioles. If Guthrie has another erratic start and hits a batter things could get very interesting, and potentially ugly.

The Orioles who struggled to start the season have won four of their last six after a three game sweep of the hated Boston Red Sox (Thank you O's). While the O's may be getting on a little hot streak, the Yankee's took two of three from the Orioles down in Baltimore just one series ago and should handle them in the Bronx.

The most important thing to take out of this series will be to see if the Yankees can keep rolling before they head into Boston over the weekend. The offense responded well with a 12-run outburst in the final game against the White Sox after losing Curtis Granderson to injury and having Alex Rodriguez get a day off with some "stiffness". Look for CC Sabathia to continue his dominance over the O's tonight and keep the Yankees on a role.

Three Questions
  • Can Marcus Thames and Randy Winn fill the void left by Curtis Granderson?
  • Can the Yankees stop a hot Baltimore team coming off a sweep of the Red Sox?
  • Will Teixeira continue his May resurgence?
