Yankees One of 5 Teams Interested in Russell Martin

From Ken Rosenthal:

Shortly after the Dodgers non-tendered catcher Russell Martin on Thursday night, six teams expressed interest in him as a free agent, according to his agent, Matt Colleran.

One of those teams, Colleran said, was the Yankees, who tried to acquire Martin for catcher Francisco Cervelli earlier Thursday, according to Michael Schmidt of the New York Times.

With Posada set to spend much of his time at the DH spot, Martin might be a good option to bring in and help split the duties with Montero.

Last year, the 27-year-old hit just .248/.347/.332 with 5 HR and 26 RBI in 97 games for the Dodgers.
