A-Rod: Leave LeBron Alone

If you follow the NBA and don't root for the Miami Heat I'm sure you shared in the joy that the rest of us felt watching LeBron & Co. walk of the floor the other night as losers. Denied of a world championship by the gutty gritty Mavericks. To make matters even better, LeBron disappeared in the 4th quarter for most of the series and is getting much of the blame.

Well, A-Rod, a guy who knows a thing or two about getting blamed for things, says the critics should back off a bit.
"Winning a championship is not an easy thing to do regardless of talent," Rodriguez told The Post before the Yankees' 12-4 victory over the Rangers last night at Yankee Stadium. "LeBron is a once in a lifetime player, especially the last year." Rodriguez asked for patience in judging James.

"We need to remember this kid is 26 years old, and celebrate his talent," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said the Heat not winning shouldn't take anything away from Dallas.
"Let's not take the Mavericks as an afterthought," said Rodriguez, who refused to make a prediction before the NBA Finals. He lives in Miami and played in Arlington, a suburb of Dallas. "They did everything they had to do to raise a championship."
I get where A-Rod is coming from, he's defending a friend, and there's nothing wrong with that. I also have to believe that he see a lot of parallels between the way fans treat the two superstars, and doesn't want to see LeBron go through what he did. Again, nothing wrong with that.

All that said, come Alex, this is Lebron we're talking about, and the dude deserves whatever he gets. Not only is one player much more responsible for the outcome of a game or series in the NBA, but when you follow the disappearing act up with ridiculous statements about us regular folk, you deserve whatever you get. And remember, that's after the whole turning his back on Cleveland/The Decision nonsense.

.... Here Stephen Colbert sums it up pretty well:

That's all for your NBA talk, back to actual baseball shortly.
