News of the Day

-- Alex Rodriguez tells Mike and the Mad Dog that he and Jeter's friendship is better than it has been in years. "I'll give it an A, A+," Rodriguez said. We're on the honeymoon again ... Things have been really good. It reminds me a little bit of our old days, back when we were kids."

-- Joba Chamberlain adds another pitch to his already impressive repertoire. This spring Joba has been using his curveball a lot more, he's been working on his changeup. And now we find out he's learning a two-seamer from Chien-Ming Wang. “I actually feel pretty comfortable with it, which is surprising,” Chamberlain said. “It’s not a swing-and-miss pitch, but it’s a pitch that’s going to get ground balls when you need them.” Why does anyone want a guy with 5 pitches wasting away in the bullpen?

-- Kat O'Brien and Peter Abraham both discuss how the Yankees see a very bright future for Robinson Cano, but then again, doesn't everybody? "I haven't seen a play he can't make or a ball he can't hit," Joe Girardi said.

-- Ed Valentine of Bugs and Cranks adds himself to the growing list of people who think it's stupid to close out Yankee Stadium with a Hockey game.

-- And if you missed it from last night's game thread, the Yankees announced that they signed actor and comedian Billy Crystal, and that he's going to work out with the team tomorrow and actually play in Thursday's game against the Pirates.
