Bobby Murcer died today at the age of 62. This is a truly sad day for the Yankees and their fans. He was a great Yankee and an even better man. I grew up listening to Murcer call Yankees game on WPIX, and later on MSG and YES. I wish I had been able to see him play. RIP Bobby, you will be sorely missed, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
damn thats awful.
ReplyDeleteWe lost one of the really good ones today.
ReplyDeleteHere is a very nice article about Bobby's passing from Bill Madden of the Daily News.

unbelievable, a sad day for the Yankees and for baseball.
ReplyDeleteI will miss him. I remember going to a game as a youth and being upset that the Yankees were losing. My parents reminded me a of Yogism, "It ain't over, till it's over."
ReplyDeleteWell, sure enough, Bobby Murcer came up in the bottom of the 9th of that game and hit a 2 run homer to win it.
I don't recall the date who or who they were playing, but that memory of Bobby Murcer will live on forever.
Rest In Peace Bobby. I was too young to see you as a player but as a yankee you touched us all.
ReplyDeleteVery, very sad. He was such a lovable guy. I, too, never saw him play, and I wouldn't know him as well as I do if it wasn't for all his old timer's day joking around and his fun-loving announcing.
ReplyDeleteRIP Bobby, and love and prayers to his family and friends.
