The pitcher's agent, Darek Braunecker, and Mark Rodgers met with the Red Sox on Monday afternoon, and it appears Boston is right there in the mix with Atlanta and the Yankees for Burnett. From Jerry Crasnick and Jayson Stark:
The Yankees are sending out signals that they'd like to meet with A.J. Burnett's agent, Darek Braunecker, and might be willing to surpass the guaranteed dollar figure that Atlanta has on the table for the free agent right-hander.They also think that Burnett will wait until Sabathia is signed before he makes a decision.
The Braves have offered Burnett a four-year, $60 million deal with a buyout and a fifth-year option. It's believed that Atlanta's overall package, including the option, is worth $75 million.
Jon Heyman also says the Yanks are ready to top the Braves' offer, and thinks the offer may be in the area of four years $64 million.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Please Lord NOOOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteWhat part scares you?
ReplyDeleteNice, hopefully the Braves don't give him that 5th year guaranteed, that will leave the door wide open for the Yanks.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we want this guy?
ReplyDeleteHe is Jeff Weaver all over again. good start here, five bad. good start three bad.. three wins, three losses.
Just give us Ben sheets and CC,, maybe Derek Lowe.. Bring Andy back.
How is he like Jeff Weaver? Weaver never had stuff that was even close to Burnett's.
ReplyDeleteWho said stuff, I said he will be another Jeff Weaver here. Weaver in Detroit was even more talked about then Burnett.
ReplyDeleteWeaver was not more talking about than Burnett. Where are you getting this stuff from?
ReplyDeleteAnd pitchers rely on their stuff, Burnett's is much better than Weaver's ever was, that's why it's significant.
