The New York Yankees will wear a new cap for the entirety of the 2009 season featuring a patch on the back commemorating the opening of the new Yankee Stadium. The patch is the first of its kind to appear on the back of an official MLB Authentic Collection cap, incorporating the MLB logo in its standard location to maintain the traditional Yankees cap design.
The caps will debut officially on Opening Day. Designed by MLB and the Yankees and manufactured by New Era, the caps will be available for purchase beginning March 1 through MLB.com and at Yankee Clubhouse stores, Modell's, Champs and the Sports Authority. All MLB Authentic Collection products for sale are exactly the same as those worn by the players.

Check Out Their New Hats
These are new caps the Yankees will be wearing this season. Here's a press release from MLB.com via Bryan Hoch:
well i got a hat with an ASG patch on it, time to get this
ReplyDeleteNot really a fan of this, looks terrible.
ReplyDeletelooks like a hat that a fan would wear, not a ballplayer. I guess New Era and MLB have to cash in on all opportunities. A patch on the uniform sleeve would have been enough.
ReplyDeletethey shoulda just left the patch on the side like always. dont get me wrong, i'm a big fitted wearer, and i know i'll end up buying this if i can get a job, but they shoulda just stuck to leaving the patch on the side
ReplyDeleteanyway u put it, our patches look way better than both met patches they have!
not sure what i think of this. why can't they go with the conventional logo on the side? must MLB try to squeeze money out of people in every which way in order for Bud to get his legacy as the billion dollar commish? geez.....
ReplyDeleteanyway, i won't be buying it. i have a darn good Yankees cap at home which serves the purpose.
Thats very cool.
ReplyDeletei dont really like it
ReplyDeleteIt's just a hat.
ReplyDeleteugly
ReplyDeleteI uploaded a hi-res version of the picture so you can get a better view of the patch.
ReplyDeleteEven more ugly... haha
ReplyDeletepretty ugly. not as ugly as the mets god awful logo (what a piece of crap that it LOL), but pretty ugly. and too big.
ReplyDeleteUgly!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Stephan Colbert would make fun of this hat on his show?
ReplyDeleteugly.
ReplyDeleteI actually like it. My only complaint might be that the logo is just a bit too big. I like the logo on the back better than on the side, actually.
ReplyDeleteI actually like it too. I think it's cool that the logo is where it is. Plus, it's the first time a team has put a logo on the back of a cap, and I'm glad the Yankees were the first.
ReplyDeleteWhat horse-poop. So much for true tradition....
ReplyDeleteMike
i'm just saying, leave it on the side. coming from a guy who wears alot of fitteds, i would just keep the patch on the side. and have the mlb symbol in the back the colors of the new patch. it just doesn't look right to me
ReplyDeleteThe Yankees? Yeah, I like that NASCAR team.
ReplyDeleteI too wear and buy a lot of fitteds, but only authentic collection caps. I usually try to get 1 ASG hat every year (different team), 1 of the World Series hats every year, and so on. I'm not a big fan of this hat. I heard a rumor a few weeks ago that they would be wearing that patch on the back of the hats but didn't particularly mind too much, but seeing it now I think it's terrible. I'm content with my Yanks ASG hat, but when that one gets a little more beat up I'll probably eventually end up buying this. I just think it looks stupid.
