  1. Why aren't they playing Teixeira? He's played in like only 4 games. I understand that they want to give the rookies a chance to show what they got, but Johnny Damon and Xavier Naduy have played like all most all of them.

  2. i cant wait to see burnett on saturday on yes i get real exited when hes on the mound i have a feeling we will see a no hitter this year from burnett

  3. I don't know why yankee boy. I don't know why Kei Igawa is pitching. But there is only one solution, I should pitch.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'm only 13 so I can probably throw 75 or somethen.U got a nice blog yankee boy, i've been on there lately.

    ReplyDelete
  5. That's pretty damn good for a 13 year old isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  6. It sounds good to me, but I'm not expert on junior high baseball so I'm not sure.

    ReplyDelete
  7. yankeefan91,

There were a couple times last year when I thought he had no-hit stuff on the mound. Too bad every time was against the Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Well Joba's looking like he's fixed whatever was screwing him up his first two starts.

    ReplyDelete
  9. That was a bad double play for the yankees, but Gardner had no jance.

    ReplyDelete
  10. lol thats so true greg his stuff is just nastyy last season i went to see the jays play against the yanks and the they were just playin catch in the outfield and u just hear that glove pop and how it just comes out of his hand its just amazin it looks like hes not even trying to trow it that hard.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Great inning by Joba. He does have nasty stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yea he hits 96+ very easily. He was hitting 97-98 in his first spring training game.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Wish I can throw that fast when I get older.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yea I'm impressed with Joba so far, especially coming off those two crappy games.

Also, I'm glad Gardner got another hit - he really is swinging a good bat, but I would have liked to see Gardner get that bunt down.

    ReplyDelete
  15. He has the rest of spring training to get a bunt down. He is fighting for a spot in center field so he needs to show his bat more and steal more bases.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You have a point, he's proving he can swing the bat. But really, he has to be able to bunt when they need him to.

    ReplyDelete
  17. He doesn't have to in the first inning, when theirs a runner on second or somethen, then thats a time u have to bunt.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Let me put it this way: regardless of the situation, when Joe Girardi tells him to bunt, he has to get the bunt down.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Exactly, he has to do what he is told or..... u know.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "U got a nice blog yankee boy, i've been on there lately."

Thanks Liam. That means a lot to me. And to tell you the truth, I don't get a lot of visitors, except you, Greg, and some of my pals.

Also, 75 miles an hour? Damn you're good for 13.

    (I'm only 12, so I throw 65 or something)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks man, and thats good for a 12 year old. I just don't know how to post a comment on your blog. We can chat some more. Baseball is my future so I would do anything to play baseball.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Are any of you watching the Dominican Republic play the Netherlands? It's 0-0 in the 7th. It's amazing to me how bad the DR looks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. What channel? If it's the MLB network then i'm out of luck.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's pretty easy. You click on the comments section on the bottom of the post like Sliding Into Home, and post.

If you can't I'll see what I can do to fix it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. They're a bunch of punks that's why. Did you see Hanley on that long fly ball last inning? He hits a warning track fly ball and he's breaking it down like it's a homer. It's pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yea, it's on MLB network, Liam.

    Anon,

I did see that. Just run hard out of the box. I don't get what's so hard about that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. WHAT CHANNEL?! The game seems exiting.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Greg,

I'm playing MLB '09: The Show right now. I'll turn on the DR-Netherlands game now.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I just told you, it's on the MLB network.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love that game Yakeeboy. I'm gonna play a few games after this is over.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was posting the same time as you I guess Greg, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm starting to hate you guys a little bit. I don't have the money yet to get the game so please don't talk about it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hate is a strong word, i'll just say that i'm mad. U guys are the best.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yea, my bad.... Have you played the demo?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have the game too Liam. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  36. No not realy, I just go on youtube and wtch some videos of it. The game seems realy cool. I'm cool with watching it until I get the game.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Damn! 42 Comments! And like 35 of them are by Greg and Liam. That must be a record!

    Oooops, it's now 43!

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's a record for a spring game, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  39. liam,

That's what I did. I just got it yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Greg,

What about the entire history of the blog? I've followed SIH since you created it and I've never seen more than 40 comments in a post.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hay, I wounder if we keep on talking the comments can reach to 70 or somethen.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hey Greg,

Any stadium updates? been a while. I bet there are some new pic some where...

    ReplyDelete
  43. My record is 115 from the 8/12 game against the Twins last year.

    ReplyDelete
  44. When I saw this many comments, I got SO NERVOUS. I thought Joba's arm had fallen off or something. So I opened it up, lump in throat. Glad to see it was just meanignless jabber back and forth...phew!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I've found this blog on Gregs first post. He was interdusing himself and the blog. I remember that squrril card. I have not seen more than 40 comments though.WOW

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hey Peter,

I'll have an update by the end of the week. There haven't been many new pictures lately.

    ReplyDelete
  47. mlb 09 the show is awesome i just made a new cover because pedroia is on the front

    ReplyDelete
  48. Liam,

There were several game threads last year with more than 50 comments.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks...It will be one part of the blog I will miss once the stadium opens...Only a few more weeks of stadium updates before it opens!

    ReplyDelete
  50. 115, I don't remember that.

I'm a slow typer so it will take a while for me for my comment to come up.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Peter,

Then I will have a stadium demolition picture page.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Pedroia cover sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Here's the post Liam, http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com/2008/08/game-120-yankees-twins.html#comments

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't think the MLB '09 makers like Yankee fans. In '06 it was David Ortiz, in '07 it was David Wright, our crosstown rival, (okay, so Ryan Howard wasn't that bad) and this year it's Dustin Pedroia. I bet you next year it will be Jason Bay or something.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Now I remember. I wrot some stuff down as comments. I was Anonymous for a while, then I started writing my real name becuase you seem like a trustful guy. Thanks again Greg.

    ReplyDelete
  56. They better put a Yankee guy on the cover for next year. Tex would be my first joice.

    ReplyDelete
  57. About Gardner's bunting all the scouts say he is good at bunting and he did have a bunt single yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tex would be a good choice.

Duncan just hit a 3-run homer for the Yanks, nice...

The DR game is going into the bottom of the 9th, still scoreless. Netherlands coming up to bat.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yeah bunting for Gardner is very important. Kevin Long was saying that Joe Girardi was placing a higher emphasis on manufacturing runs this spring training. Yankees were horrible last year at getting runners in scoring position in.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You're right Anon, he is a good bunter. I just didn't like that he couldn't get one down earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ok yankee boy I think I need your help with this. I was trying to post a comment on your blog and it has Word Verification which I don't know what that is. Then theres Google/ blogger and u need like a password or something.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow, the DR team must realy suck againts the Netherlands.

    ReplyDelete
  63. E6 on Jose Reyes in the top of the 9th.... instead of nobody on with two out the Dutch have a runner on first with one out.

    ReplyDelete
  64. liam i'll try to fix it right now. wait like 5 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  65. This is a sick game... Cano is up in the top of the 10th with 1st and 2nd and two out in a 0-0 game.

    ReplyDelete
  66. This is a sick game that I can't watch. Keep updating me Greg if u feel like it.

Thanks YankeeBoy, i'll go try now.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The DR took a 1-0 lead on a misplay in the top of the 11th, then in the bottom half the guy who made the misplay drove in the tying run with a bloop single. Amazing game.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I just looked on mlb.com saying that the game is tied with runners on the corner.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The Dutch win 2-1 on an error from Willy Aybar of the Rays. Wow what a game, and what an upset.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I can't fucking believe it. WOW!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. And the dude who screwed things up for the Dutch in the top of the inning ends up getting the big game tying single and then scoring the winning run. Un-freaking-real.

    ReplyDelete
  72. 82 comments, a person will wake up tommorow to leave a comment and will say, these guys have no lives. There just sitting on the computer waiting for someone to answer back.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It would be funny if the Dutch won the entire thing.

    ReplyDelete
  74. One last thing. Today is March 10th. I think it's time to close those polls now.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Good call, I completely forgot about those.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Good, glad I spotted them.

    ReplyDelete
  77. New record for most comments on a single post?

    ReplyDelete
  78. Nah, on Aug. 12, last year we had 115 for the Minnesota game thread.

    ReplyDelete
  79. holy crap 90+ comments for a Spring Training game... this year is gonna be crazy.. ur blog is getting very popular.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm surprised myself. Even though it was only about 7 of us, it's still cool to get this many comments for any game let along a spring training game.

    Thanks guys.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Even though we had a lot of comments, most of it wasn't about the game.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Nothing wrong with a little meaningless conversation, especially during a spring training game.
