News & Notes

- Andy Pettitte is 10-5, with a 3.27 ERA in 19 starts against the A's. And last year he was 2-0, with a 1.12 ERA in two starts.

- Last year Dana Eveland made his only career start against the Yankees. In six innings he allowed two runs on fours hit, walked six, and struck out three, but took the loss in a 5-4 Yankees win.

- As I mentioned earlier today, Xavier Nady will not need surgery on his injured elbow.

Stick around and discuss the game

  1. So, no rainout tonight?

I'm not in NY (not even in the US) but MK said yesterday on his show that the weather was supposed to be bad tonight as well.

Great if there's something played, it isn't good to accumulate too many rainouts at the beginning of the year.

if u click on "weather in motion" u can see that we have a window to get the game in... unless we get those summer like pop up thunderstorms.

  5. A couple pieces of news:

    - Nady is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

    - Chien-Ming Wang will head to Tampa for an extended spring training start.

  8. Have fun at the game Greg. I wish yesterday wasn't rained out, I was dying to see the Giambino's return. Can't belive I have to wait until late July to see him again (unless I suddenly get tickets for tomorrow's game).

I feel a winning streak coming on! LET'S GO YANKEES!!

  9. Having a DH bat 7th in the order, that just screams confidence... Enough of these bonehead mistakes of signing over the hill bums...Thank god its his last season, Damon should be DH, on account of his arm being weaker then a 12 yr old, and put melky out there, & sit Matsui & his cranky OLD body...

  13. Is anyone else watching the game on MLB.TV? I'm paying a lot of money to watch those games on my computer and tonight it doesn't seem to work.
And I'm out of my mind! I can't stand those computer problems!

Just wanted to check if it was just my internet connexion or a problem with MLB.TV.

    Tks.

  15. Vinsanity doesnt MLB.tv blackout all yankee games in the nyc area?

Pettitte appears to be turning in a nice job again. excellent strike to ball ratio.

  16. No fan noise at all. I feel like I'm watching an Orioles game in September.

  18. They showed a clip of Giambi's walk-off back in 2002 and the audio didn't even compare. Granted, it was a walk-off but there was a huge difference.

  19. Fantastic work by Pettitte. Hope Joba and the bullpen paid attention.

  20. I wish Giambi was our DH this year rather than Matsui. Why couldn't they have picked up his option, or resign him to a 2-year deal. He was awesome last year, one of the main reasons we ended up with 89 wins last year.

  24. Greg Where did you sit in the bleachers, I was in 204 4th row up

  25. I was in 203 row five.

The noise in the bleachers was fine. You couldn't really tell about the rest of the stadium.

  26. Im not sure why everyone is so down on the noise of the stadium. Its the same as the old stadium...If you're in the upper decks or bleachers its going to be loud and people go nuts. The further down you go there people tend to be quieter. I was in the grandstand and it got pretty loud at times (given it was a Tuesday night game). I think it's a great stadium and people need to give it a chance. You want to see a quiet ballpark, go to Citi Field then come back to Yankee Stadium. You'll realize you might be overthinking it.
