"I wasn't OK," said Damon, who has a gash and a black-and-blue bruise on his leg. He requires postgame icing and the injury made swinging the bat uncomfortable Friday night, when he went 1-for-5.You gotta give the guy a lot of credit for playing through it, and by watching him in the field you wouldn't even notice because he's looked better in left over the past week or so than he has all year. That includes a very good play after the injury in Texas as well as a nice play near that wall yesterday. He's struggling a bit with the bat going 2-for-11 with 2 RBI since the injury, but he should be fine and back to normal soon.

Damon Playing Through Pain (again)
Earlier in the year it was a banged up shoulder from slamming into the green monster in Fenway, now it's a cut and a contusion on his right thigh from slamming into the left field wall in the sixth innings of the Wednesday game in Texas.
The Yankees have to stop allowing players to played injured. Last year Jeter got hit on the wrist, did not seem the same the rest of the year. This year, Swisher got hit in the arm, and went on some horrible slide, where he struckout 24 times in like 3 weeks. Now Damon has been banged up a few times, and with a depleted outfield is being forced to play. This is when ANGEL BERROA who for some unknown reason is still on this team(according to BR hes had 3 plate apperances this month) should be DFA'd and Shelley Duncan should be recalled.
ReplyDeletemaybe he should slow down a little when approaching a wall. he needs to watch some crash-test-dummies videos to maybe catch on.
ReplyDeleteI heard Waldman say that Damon has an 8 inch gash on his hip from hitting the wall. That's a pretty big gash. I was surprised he played through that. But he was hitting thee crap out of the ball at the time and I'm sure he didn't want to sit.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Anon, Angel Berroa is wasting a spot that could be used by someone who would actually play. I cannot understand the Yankees thinking here.
ReplyDeleteExactly. He's wasting a roster spot. With the short outfield right now, wouldn't Shelley Duncan make perfect sense? He's batting .304 with 18 HRs and 47 RBIs in 39 games. That's unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteDamon needs to stop running into walls. When Melky comes back I'd give Damon a day off.
ReplyDeleteHe probably will get a day or two when Melky comes back, which will hopefully be tomorrow. But you can't blame him for playing hard.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Shelley Duncan should be on the roster.
Ok, let's score a few here and bring Mo in to shut them down.
ReplyDeleteTex has been the team's MVP so far this year and that says a lot considering the way he started.
How pissed do you think sux fans are that they lost out on him?
oops... posted that in the wrong area.
ReplyDeleteBut I agree that Berroa should not be on the team.
