- In 25 career starts against the Angels, Andy Pettitte is 12-8, with a 4.40 ERA. Last year was a struggle for Pettitte against the Angels as the southpaw went 0-2, with a 7.94 ERA.
- Jered Weaver is 3-1 with a 6.14 ERA in four career starts against the Yanks. Three of those starts were at the old stadium and he went 2-1, with a 5.62 ERA. Last year he made two starts against the Yanks and went 1-1, with a 9.00 ERA. The loss came at The Stadium when the Yanks knocked him around for six runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
- The Yankees finished April with a 12-10 record. It may not be the "good" start we all were hoping for, but it was still their best April since 2006.
- According to Peter Abraham, Brian Bruney played catch for the first time today since his injury, and said he felt fine.
- I will be at tonight's game. It will be my first venture into the new, recessed, upper deck. I'll take pictures and post them tomorrow. I'll have my phone on me all night so I will be able to read and post comments from the game. Enjoy the game.

Enjoy the game, Greg. Let us know about the view.
ReplyDeleteRoot them on to victory!
Mike
Did you hear Kay?
ReplyDeleteHe was like "look at CC eyeing that cake, watch out!"
LOL
Man, the stadium looks empty.
ReplyDeleteits looking pretty nice here - weather is doing ok. this place is huge. its pretty nice park, great views, this fucking ap system is waaaaaay too damn loud - very annoying. its nothing like yankee stadium to me, but the views are pretty great all around
ReplyDeleteThe whole luxery section is almost empty.
ReplyDeleteThe stadium is half full at most right now - still people getting food - those lux losers were stuffing thie faces in the dorky restaurent
ReplyDeleteNice play by Jorge.
ReplyDeleteHey people.. Sitting in sec. 413 right now. Good view and the noise level is surprisingly loud. Probably because of the overhang. Nice start tonight by the Yanks.
ReplyDeleteGreg, can you take a minute when you have time & describe the field view, distance from the field, change in comfort level, and basically anything you can think of, in comparing the new location to an upper deck location in the old place? Basically, any pros & cons about the 'baseball viewing experience' you can think of. To hear someone do that while they are actually there would be great.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious for an opinion from a 'real' fan.
Thanks.
What? That was not a strike!
ReplyDeleteThe view is pretty good. You don't have the same feeling of being right on top of the field, but its better than I expected.
ReplyDeleteThe entire 215 section is empty and of course the luxurylosers stayed home on a great friday night. The air temp is great.
ReplyDeleteThe cheese steaks are ok - not really worth $10 but they are ok. Johnny rockets is awful. The service is horrible, these people have never worked in vending, and the beer is 11 when its 10 in other places in the stadium. I waited 20min for 2 hotdogs and 2 beers.
The tv is too bright, but the open concourses are gorgeous.
The bleacher views not near the restraunt fiasco are fantastic. I took a look from the terrance and the views there are also great, if set back quite more. The main deck where I am in 213 is really great value - not as great as field level at the old park - but these seats are less expensive too. Most of the main secs are full, except 215. I would not buy seats in 215 or you'll sit by yourself like the losers in the lux seats.
ReplyDeleteOh the nazis guarding each section are assholes - even here on the main. I was carrying a ton of food and the seats here are half empty and these asshats insisted on looking at my ticket. The yankees need to chill out. Its not that big a deal if a few people move down and happen to have to move.
ReplyDeleteI hope Swisher isn't hurt. We need his bat.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, Jeter's range kills us, Girardi's lack of managing and another Yankee starter blowing a big lead. Yup, I am so glad that Melancon is the answer....
ReplyDeleteThere simply is no excuse for this team, or the pitching.
And, lets not forget who the catcher was to BOTH blown leads.....
ReplyDeleteonce again the Angels get the big hits when they need them vs. us. 6 runs all with 2 outs.. this would be yet another terrible loss
ReplyDeleteMan, if you hate the yanks so much stop posting and coming to the site
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was ment for anon
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was ment for anon
ReplyDeletei know NOLA
ReplyDeleteMan if you hate the truth, reality and freedom so much then kill yourself or move to another country. One thing you're not gonna do is CONTROL my free speech, you stupid white-washed liberal fascist.
ReplyDeleteYou stupid little white-washed liberal fascists HATE any opinion other than yours and the one-sided, prejudiced viewpoint that the news mafia taught you. Liberals are exactly the OPPOSITE of what they claim to be. You're intolerant, prejudiced, one-sided and biased.
Maybe now Girardi can stop trusting Veras in these situations...
ReplyDeleteWhy can't Robertson get this inning... Mr. Torre?
ReplyDeleteman I hate Veras... dont bring him in when its a close game!
ReplyDeletegod what a frustrating game we were cruising and all of a sudden we are getting are butts kicked.
ReplyDeleteGreat BP you built there Cashman! Man you are amazing. Same old garbage. This is absolutely the most mind numbing Yankees FO and manager ever. I never seen so many stupid people except for our politicians.
ReplyDeleteThis team will NOT be able to go on any long winning streak with this BP and starting pitching. But, then again, keep starting Posada you moron Girardi and Cashman! Posada only has a 8 ERA compared to Molina's 3 ERA.
i know anon, what the hell happened tonight? its seems like once Swisher left the whole team just stopped playing.
ReplyDeleteother anon.. i dont understand why we didnt try to address the pen during the offseason... we have an unlimited amount of money and we have one of the worst pens.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't the bullpen's fault. It's Pettitte. He was awful from the start. 9 hits and 4 walks in 5.2 innings? You just can't do that.
ReplyDeleteAnd when the hell is this team going to realize that Napoli shouldn't be pitched with anything out over the plate and that Gary Matthews Jackass needs a pitch under his chin?
Seroiusly Veras and Edwar are killing this team. I still dont understand why Girardi is in love with Edwar and his changeup. And Veras is too wild he is not a reliable arm. David Robertson blows away both of them.
ReplyDeleteThe only good news is that Weaver is out of the game after the 1st he really settled in.
good start Pena... the Angels pen has struggled too
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't the BP get addressed in the off-season. Simple, Brian Cashman has no clue how to build a ballclub. You have realized this AFTER 9 years?
ReplyDeleteAnd, once again, another huge scoring by the opposing team while Jorge Posada is catching. Nah, he couldn't be the problem. The only reason these bunch of bums in the BP last year were decent was due to Molina. Posada is a killer. Wake up and smell the coffee.
captain doubleplay almost struck again
ReplyDeletemike scioscia is a great manager give him players like Pena and Gardner and he will get the maximum from them. Even there DH and catcher are aggressive running the bases.
ReplyDeletetonight has showed why joab should be in the pen. Withg 2 outs in the fifth you could have had joba and mo split the last ten outs.
ReplyDeleteJust face it, Girardi has no clue, our bullpen is terrible. If the starting pitching doesn't get on track, its gonna be a long, inconsistent season..
ReplyDeletegood inning.. but not good enough. DONT GIVE UP ANY RUNS HERE BULLPEN! Too bad Veras had to come in and pull a Veras.
ReplyDeletePena looks like a nice little clutch player.
YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSS!! Pena is my new favorite player! When Arod comes back he should get some looks at SS. What a game.
ReplyDeleteBut, our BP is still atrocious.
This could be the turning point!
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we have been great with the come backs lately!!
ReplyDeleteWOOO What a game.. Posada needs to smile more though haha
ReplyDeleteI take that back he gave a nice finger point to the team
ReplyDeletelol i hate the haters that start to bitch when we are losing, then come back to celebrate .. the yanks always seem to make it at the very least entertaining and we come back a lot
ReplyDeleteLMFAO WOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteI hope Greg stayed haha
ReplyDeleteIm sure he did, the traffic and stuff since seats arent filled like they used to be isnt that bad so no reason to leave early anymore and listen outside the stadium while in your car while in parking lot for 2 hours waiting to get out like the old ways
ReplyDeleteWay to go Yanks!
ReplyDeleteMike
Great comeback the last two inning were great baseball not trying to do too much just go the other way and keep the line moving.
ReplyDeleteGreat job Pena he is hitting 330 now. Great job by Gardner coming off the bench gets a single scores a run and draws a walk. And Cano is a hitting machine.
That was awesome!
ReplyDeleteDid you stay Greg? I went to last nights game and it was fun i could only imagine half the stadium left and only the die hards remained but even with empty seats that crown erupted .. unless the yanks are simulating crowd noise lol
ReplyDeleteOf course I stayed.
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd stay the whole time, Greg. That's what I always do, too, no matter what....
ReplyDeleteMike
I thought the crowd in the premium seats were more full than past games especially those ones againt Oakland.
ReplyDeleteAlso when he starts raining all those people go in those restaraunts and clubs.
Greg, congrats on the SportCenter nod!
ReplyDeleteI sat in the $2500 seats for the first Angel game last night. 4th row behind home plate on the aisle. Must say it was an experience! We first ate at the Legends Club. The money that was spent in these restaurants and bar areas was sick. The bathrooms have TVs that project on the mirrors. Not inbedded on the mirror or a TV with a mirror surrounding it. No some technology where the TV picture is projected onto the mirror. Must cost a small fortune. The food was great, top shelf and included in the price of the ticket. Because we got there after 6 pm we did not get to our seats until the 2nd inning. Just like the rich SOBs that always occupy this section of the stadium. There is so much behind the scene the game becomes secondary.
As I had always suspected and said many times on this site, no view of monumnet park from this level. Nothing, nada. Just a dark area for the batter's eye. If you just came to the stadium from Kansas you would have no idea what's out there. To our right was Jeb Bush and to our left was Rudy. People were holding court having dicussions, not everyone was into the game or if they were it was low key. I was busy looking around and taking video and pictures. I probably missed half the game myself. I think its either the food or the air down there. It was something different and I will soon be back in my regular seat in the grandstands.
Great stat from Pete Abraham
ReplyDeleteEdwar Ramirez has put 21 people on base in 10 innings and Jose Veras has a 7.94 ERA. They are at best unreliable at this point. You could make the case that they’re useless.
Guys, come on, I don't leave games early unless they're down 7 runs or more after the bottom of the 8th. Don't remember too many 7-run 9th inning rallies so that's my cutoff.
ReplyDeleteGreat, great win. I'm trying to write my game summary now and I'm kinda lost. All I can think is that the game was awesome, but my game summary cannot be "That was awesome!"
RPB,
Thanks for that review. Great stuff.
Just got me some field level tickets for tomorrow off of stub hub, 50 EACH!! they would be 325 regulary, fookin' sweet
ReplyDelete-Cartman
Nice!
ReplyDeleteI think the yankees gave the extra seats to the season ticket holders and a lot of them are putting those tickets on stub hub for pretty cheap. Its a good way to get those premium seats filled!
ReplyDeleteTrue.
ReplyDeleteAdded bonus, just found out its inaugural season cap day, shweetz
