- In 18 career starts against the Indians Andy Pettitte is 6-8, with a 4.53 ERA. At Progressive Field he's 5-4, with a 4.01 ERA in 10 starts. He faced them twice last year and went 0-1, with a 4.76 ERA. One of the starts was in Cleveland and he lasted just five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits, walked three and struck out three.

He faced them once this year on opening day at the new stadium, and in six innings he allowed one run on seven hits, walked one and struck out five to pick up the win. He also beat the Yanks the only time he faced them last year.

- The Yankees have not made an error in a franchise record 14 straight games.

- New York has also won 14 of their last 19 games.

  1. Here we go with the Lets pickup Dellucci lobby.

We already did that once before...

  2. Was that really the Indians logo?

  3. Yep, in the late 40's through the early 50's.

  4. Tonight's game is gonna be tough. Lee has been outstanding in his past few starts.

  5. According to Pete Abe they're putting tarp on the field and the start of the game will be delayed.

Looking at the hourly forecast it says clear skies at 7, 45% chance of rain at 8, clear at 9, 20% chance of rain at 10, 40% chance of rain at 11, and 25% at midnight. The satellite looks pretty bad for the next hour or so.

  6. While you guys wait out this delay, you can turn on ESPN Classic and watch Steven Strasburg pitch against Virginia.

  7. The Red Sox are already beating the pathetic Blue Jays 1-0 in the second.

  8. Cash was sent down. Joe G said it on Mike Fran today. It's also mentioned here http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AtIBpgqtC19osyOrvInVC.8RvLYF?slug=ap-yankees-posada&prov=ap&type=lgns

  9. Too bad Jorge is back the team was better with Cash/Cervelli behind the plate.

  10. I think it had more to do with A-Rod coming back than it did with Posada being injured and/or Cervelli doing most of the catching.

    Thank god!

  12. Isn't this game#48?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yep, just threw that update on the post above. The Yanks need to figure out a way to hit Lee. He's dominated the Yankees both times he's faced them over the last two seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  14. At least they made him work.

    ReplyDelete
  15. True, and over in Toronto the Jays just took a 5-2 lead over the Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think we'll be in first by tomorrow morning. The first time since last year's opening day.

(we were leading the divsion with a great 1-0 record!)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nah YB, the Yanks were tied with Boston for first on opening day last year.

As far as Baseball-Reference.com is concerned the last time the Yankees were in first by themselves was on the final day of the 2006 season.

  18. Oh. Wow we've really sucked the past few years haven't we?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Geeeez, they give him a 2-0 lead and he walks the leadoff man on four damn pitches.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It seems to be their Achilles Heal this year. They entire staff for the most part can't throw strikes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Seagulls be killen them midges.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I really hate those damn bugs. I wonder how that series plays out if they never invade.

    ReplyDelete
  23. THROW STRIKES YOU HICK!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Toronto just closed out the game against the Sox 6-3.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Pettitte is shooting himself in the foot with these walks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. They're losing this game. Watch!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Posada's had a good game in his return. He caught pretty well, went 2-3, and looked as good as ever. Hopefully he stays this way and doesn't get injured.

As for Andy, he didn't pitch like a horrible game. He only gave up 1 run, lowered his ERA, and is in line for the win, so really he didn't pitch that bad. Hope the stiffness goes away soon.

  28. "I wonder how that series plays out if they never invade."

How would have it played out? Joba would have got an easy 8th inning and we would have went on to win Game 2. Game 3 and 4 I'm not too sure about, they were played at Yankee Stadium and the Yanks just flat out stunk.

  29. Alright. Calling it a night people. See ya.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Night, YB. And I think you're right about the '07 ALDS.

  33. You're First place New York Yankees good to hear for a change

  34. Aceves is awesome. I love this guy.

And, Posada beter not be our starting catcher. He is a terrible signal caller and our pitching has suffered immensely for years under him.

It is amazing how better we have played and pitched without him this year. When our pitchign starts to suffer we will know why. Posada should be the DH and occassionally catch.

  36. @ Anon

Cleveland scored one run tonight. The only problem the Yankees had with their pitching tonight was that Pettitte was missing his spots. How is that Posada's fault?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Unless he's hurt Posada will be starting behind the plate. I agree with you about Aceves, though, he's been great.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Was the deleted comment from the tool? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  39. No, I didn't delete that, I think Stan posted the same thing twice.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh.

Damn it's nice to be in first!
