They are first and second in the AL East and have strong interest in David Renfroe, a Mississippi high school stud athlete. Here's Renfroe going yard at Wrigley Field last year when he was a senior at South Panola High School in Batesville, Mississippi:Welcome to the latest chapter in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry.
Renfroe, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound shortstop, worked out for the Red Sox last weekend in Fenway Park and will be at Yankee Stadium on Thursday to put his tools on display for Yankees officials.
Because the Mets were in Boston at the time, David Wright and Bobby Parnell watched Renfroe take batting practice and raved about his performance.
Renfroe, whose father Laddie pitched in four games for the 1991 Cubs, has a scholarship offer from Ole Miss, and the buzz is that it's going to take close to $3 million for him to turn his back on the Rebels.
"Big money means big-market teams," an industry source said.
Here's another video of him , hitting, fielding, and pitching - yes he can pitch too - from BaseballFactoryTV:
The MLB draft will be on June 9-11 an the Yanks have the 29th pick, the Sox are one pick ahead of them at 28.
just curious why do the red sox pick in front of the yankees?
ReplyDeleteBc the Yankees lost picks when they signed AJ, CC and Tex.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the only reason why they have a pick in the 1st round is because they failed to sign Gerrit Cole last year and must get that pick back.
Just the way the chips fell.
Stupid D-backs.... why did they have to go and sign Garland...
