News & Notes

- Andy Pettitte has faced the Atlanta Braves nine times in the regular season, five times as a Yankee and four times when he was with the Astros. In those games he's 5-1 with a 3.13 ERA. In Atlanta he's 2-1, with a 3.81 ERA in four starts.

Pettitte is hitting .136/.162/.185 (25-for-184) in his career with 1 homer and 13 RBI. and is hitting just

- In 39 games (15 starts) against the Yankees in the regular season, Derek Lowe is 8-10 with a 6.07 ERA. Those numbers do not include his 1-0 record and 3.13 ERA in two starts - including game 7 - in the 2004 ALCS against the Yanks.

- Robinson Cano was scratched from tonight's lineup. Cano said it's just an off day, but Peter Abraham said that his wrist was taped. Joe Girardi told the media that Cano's wrist is bothering him, but he's expected back in the lineup tomorrow against the Mets.

- Melky Cabrera and Hideki Matsui are out with the flu.

- Check out a pic of Phil Hughes' new tattoo over on Marc Carig's blog. Nick Swisher's tattoo artist friend did the tattoo for Hughes. The tat reads,

I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

- From now on I will be including a link to WCBS 880's live streaming feed in the game threads. (Thanks to the fine folks over at WCBS for passing the link my way.) The link will be on top of the page where WCBS is listed as the radio station for the game. I figured this would be good for some of you.

Stick around and discuss the game
as it happens in the comments section

  1. I told you. The way Cervelli gets rewarded is by starting Posada immediately the next day. Too funny for words.

Its no wonder this team stinks, can't hardly beat bad teams, can't beat good teams at all. There is simply no reward for doing well. This organization insists on trotting the same garbage that hasn't worked again and again and again and they expect different results.

  2. Per Peter Abraham...Cano has been scratched...Ransom to play 2B...

  3. Anon, do you realize how much everyone hates you?

    Why do you stay around?

  4. Why doesnt Girardi get creative with this team? How about Swisher at an infield spot now and then, Cervelli catching, Posada DH, and bring a DH player in the outfield. Obviously cant be done in a national league game. Just feel Girardi can shake things up and move players around a little more.

  5. Where is Swisher going to play? He plays first and you're not going to DH Tex or sit him.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Swisher shouldn't even be starting, why was Duncan buried for him to get a spot?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Shelley Duncan? Maybe 'cus the guy can't hit any off-speed pitch.

  8. Shit TMZ is reporting that Michael Jackson died. It's all over TV.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I heard about it too, it's crazy how these things come tend to come in threes. Ed McMahon yesterday and Farrah Fawcett and now Michael Jackson.

Depending on whether he molested those boys or not this either sucks or there are a lot of happy people right now.

  10. Yep. Michael Jackson is dead. Went into cartiac arrest and the doctors never got a pulse. This sucks, he was a hell of a singer despite his mishaps.

  11. Greg - the WCBS link works, but the game is not on what they are streaming - just regular news. I have MLB audio, so I am listening on that.

  12. Yeah, the CBS audio online never has the game. A couple years a go, I had to work during a playoff game and tried listening online and could only get the news feed.

Not sure why they gave you that link, Greg.

  13. That ball hit by Ransom looked fair.

  14. hey anon, your beloved red sox are down 4-0

  15. Looks like A-Rod is coming around. Sweet!

We saw how quickly Tex got his average up. A-Rod could easily do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yay. Michael jackson is dead....one less molester in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  17. That was never even close to proven, so that remark is ridiculous.

  18. Thanks for pointing out the WCBS thing. Kinda strange that they would ask me to post that if the game was not on. Oh well.

  19. Can we catch a freakin' popup?!

  20. Bad defense or not, Pettitte is giving this game away. Get him out.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd like to see a statistic on average how many runs per game the yankees starters get. Sure, pettitte leads the team in wins but he has looked terrible his last 3 or 4 starts but the yankee offense helps him out.

Tonight he's pitching with a 7 run lead in the 4th inning and hes just throwing BP to atlanta right now i can't take it

    ReplyDelete
  22. The team hands you a fucking 8-1 lead and you piss it away. Amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If we lose this game, it tops off all previous patheticness from this season.

    ReplyDelete
  24. In better news, Alfredo Aceves is the man, and John Smoltz got rocked tonight by the Nationals.

  25. Well I am so broken up over that fact JC. Sheesh, a bunch of fornicating, drunken cake eating roman CATholics going to hell, don't like me. Darn! Go eat your wafer and drink your wine.

You hate freedom dont you JC.

You also hate Jesus Christ dont you JC.

You know how this is so? Simple. "For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God". Birds of a feather flock together pal.

    ReplyDelete
  26. And, I see POSada is up to his usual....giving up a ton of runs as the starting catcher. ROFLMAO.

Yea, yea, yea, its Pettitte's fault, its the wind, moon, stars or anything else you can think of. Its amazing that this ALWAYS happens with POSada catching. ALWAYS! LOL

Yup, great hit to by POSada. His .308 average is really helping us. Piece of Shit ada. That's what POSada stands for.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ugh, now Aceves can't find his good stuff... at least he got out of it.

    LOL!! Damn, you're good....

    You pinned me perfectly.

  29. Looks like A-Rod is back.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If A-Rod is back this team will be fine.

Ahhh, there's the nightly web gem from Teixeira.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just saw Phil's tattoo. That probably hurt on the inner arm!

    ReplyDelete
  32. By the way, Anon, what the hell is wrong with you?

    ReplyDelete
  33. anon is just pissed that his red sox lost.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Im not a red sox fan. I hate the red sox. And, JC started it so now he's getting it. The truth must hurt.

I am a lifelong Yankee fan. But, I am NOT a fan of the way this current organization (which is run by morons like Cashman.) He's a terrible GM and he does nothing with everything.

When doesn't Robertson give up runs?

And, when doesn't piece of shit ada (Posada) give up 6 runs? I mean this is ridiculous! What a terrible, horrible, pathetic, no talent, ass clown jerk off. Every friggin time this chump starts our team is giving up 6 runs or more. Its beyond comical at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  35. NOt only does Posada sintk but Girardi has the nerve and brilliance to put him in the 5 hole. How dumb. Way to go Girardi, he went 1 for 4 and had 4 LOB. Terrific! Think positive! Schmuck!!

At least we won. And, we only had to score 11 runs to make up for the 7 runs piece of shit ada gave up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm just glad they won. Anon, you need to calm down.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Arod had way too many hits tonight with RISP. He used them all up and probably won't do that again for another month.

And, how anyone can have faith in Arod is amazing. He's a lifelong choker in the playoffs. Oh well some never learn. The only thing men learn from history is men dont' learn anything from history.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Since when is 1-4 so bad?

Anon, you're a sorry, pathetic jackass.

You probably sit at home every night and jerk off to your fantasies of being a baseball player.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ugly game but they won so who cares. Pettitte was awful though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Teixeira didn't have a hit tonight, Anon.

That makes him a hack, right?
