Need a starting pitcher today. Let's get it done Cash. Doesn't have to be a huge name - just someone we can trust more than sergio mitre starting in a Game 4 of the ALDS.
ReplyDeleteI really hope we can get Bannister or Duchscherer, more so Duchscherer if he is healthy.. he was a great starter last year, and before that he was a great setup man... I really like Scott Downs too for the pen
ReplyDeleteSox are on the verge of acquiring Victor Martinez from the Indians
ReplyDeleteThey just did.
ReplyDeletenot confirmed...just out there saying they are about to.
ReplyDeleteOk, thanks anon. I didn't hear correctly.
ReplyDeleteYea, Liam, it's real close. This is bad news for the Yanks.
ReplyDeleteDon't be surprised if Adam LaRoche is one of the players headed to Cleveland.
No prob. Not sure who Sox put out there in the deal. All i know is sox fans are pretty upset by this little rumor. They wanted Adrian Gonzalez.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they play V-Mart at catcher. :)
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who feels that if Cashman doesn't make a move he should be fired? And no I'm not kidding at all.
ReplyDeleteThis team, as is, will not last down the stretch. The offense and pen are probably fine, but what happens when Chamberlain hits his innings limit? CC, AJ, Pettitte, Mitre and who? That rotation just won't cut it, especially if the Sox get V-Mart.
I think thats a huge exxageration Greg. I definitely would like to seee them get a starter but its not enough to warrant Cash getting fired.
ReplyDeletei really want halladay.... imagine the trio of cc, aj and doc
ReplyDeleteAngels prepping for a move?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/angels-trade-coming.html
Could that be where Duscherer is headed?
If he doesn't make a move he's basically giving up. They cannot win with that five-man rotation.
ReplyDeletei heard that the angels offered Aybar, Wood, Saunders+ possibly propects to the Jays for Halladay a few days ago.. maybe they could be nearing a deal?, hopefully not
ReplyDeletei would really hate to see us sit back and do nothing as the Sox, Angels and Tigers all get better.
giving up? what are you saying? they are 2.5 games up in first place? What would you like the guy to do. What do you see that cashman doesnt see?
ReplyDeleteI believe they can win with what they have. That's an excellent 1-4 and several options for the fifth spot. Not to mention an excellent offense and bullpen
ReplyDeletehow about calling up the terrible Nats to see if we can get Lannan.. he's pretty good, he pitched good vs us this year..its better than nothing, and any chance of getting Zach Duke? he can win 15 games a year for us.. he wouldnt come too cheap tho
ReplyDeleteMike, Joba doesn't have much time left in the rotation. He's at 110 innings right now, which leaves him 40-50 for the rest of the year + playoffs. He's got maybe 20-30 innings as a starter left this year, that's four or five games.
ReplyDeleteAre they really going to go with Aceves and Mitre as the 4-5? And taking Hughes out of the pen is a risk at this point.
To me they need to get a starter.
buchholz and bard not in the martinez deal
ReplyDeleteu kidding me JB10?.. if we needed Martinez Hughes/ Joba would be demanded.. BS
ReplyDeleteThey're not giving up Lannan or Dukes for anything less than a kings ransom. Nobody is trading away young pitching.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a starting pitcher would hugely increase their chances but I remember them riding on the backs of Aaron Small and Shawn Chacon to a playoff berth a few years ago. They're in first place right now and they have the offense to club people to death.
No Buchholz, no bard

I have no idea what they're giving up now.
Well that kinda sucks
ReplyDeleteI'm getting horrid images of Sergio Mitre starting Game 4 of the ALDS against the Tigers. Let's get something done, Cash. Anything.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to see Mitre v. Porcello in Game 4.
Do you know how lucky they were that year? Come on, do you really ever expect to see that again?
ReplyDeleteAlso, in '06 Epstein did the same thing Cashman is doing now, which is nothing. They eventually suffered some injuries and ended up finishing third that year. That's why the Yankees won, because Theo handed the Yanks the division by not improving his team while the Yanks did.
I'd actually like to see the Yanks get Duchscherer and Bannister. One of em will probably pan out.
ReplyDeleteI agree, MP.
ReplyDeleteCashmans been quiet, something must be up
ReplyDeleteI might as well open the chat early, right?
ReplyDeleteGreg,
ReplyDeleteIf you had to predict, do you see the Yanks making a move? And if so, what would that move be??
yea greg
ReplyDeleteRight now I have no idea. My best guess would be either a starter and/or a reliever.
ReplyDeleteI'm ready for the chat

ReplyDeleteIf Joba goes to the pen and we dnt get a top starter, r we realy trying to win? If Joba is gona pitch 140 innings a year then just trade him!! this freakin bullcrap!!
