Who is your first half MVP?

With the Yankees just past the midway point in the season it's time to pick our mid-season MVP.

I'll give you five choices:

1. Mark Teixeira: .281/.387/.548, 23 doubles, 20 HR, 62 RBI
2. Johnny Damon: .284/.370/.528, 19 doubles, 16 HR, 49 RBI, 8 SB
3. Derek Jeter: .313/.393/.455, 15 doubles, 10 HR, 35 RBI, 17 SB
4. Alex Rodriguez .246/.411/.514, 14 HR, 44 RBI - just 53 games
5. Mariano Rivera: 1-2, 25 saves, 2.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP

My pick is Teixeira, between the offense and defense I think he's been this team's MVP. Vote in the poll on the right or comment below.

  1. i love tex, but honestly it's been jeet. his defense has been solid and he has had a bunch of clutch hits. tex's first month offensively was atrocious, but ever since his game has been consistently impressive.

  2. Jeter has been great too. I'd don't see anything wrong with picking him.

  3. I'd go with Tex. If we didnt pick him up who knows how far we may have fell behind. A-Rod's return had a big effect on him which then had a big effect on the whole team.

  4. I would go with Teix as well.
But I also take Jeter as a strong 2nd.

  5. Also, I'm going to a couple Yankee games soon.

The first one is on July 23rd vs the Athletics. I'm sitting in "Damon's Deck", just 3 rows in back of the Utz sign.

So, remeber how fans would make signs saying "O'Neill", and they made the "O" a bullseye, as in hit it here? Well I came up with one for Damon. Tell me what you think:

  6. no love for Robbie Cano. I know he has struggled with RISP of late (minus last night), but he's rebounded so well this year. I think he has been the most consistent player. And his fielding has been top notch.

  7. Jeteira! I pick them both

  8. Scotty, he's been playing very well but his lack of hitting with men on was a killer in my book. You gotta drive in those runs... or at least some of them.

  9. I say Tex for both his offense and stabilization of the defense.

    Jeter is right there too.
