Upon his request, Brad Penny was released by Boston today, and for some reason the Yankees seem interested.
Here's more from George A. King III:
The Yankees have an interest in veteran right-hander Brad Penny, who was released by the Red Sox late Wednesday night.Besides that, there was this quote from Johnny Damon:
According to a person with knowledge of the Yankees' plans, the club doesn't know of an agreement between Penny and the Red Sox that he wouldn't sign with an AL team if they released him.
"He's got good stuff. His secondary stuff might need a little tweak but his fastball was electric, it cut and he hit his spots with it. Bring him here, why not? I love the way the guy competes."
Uhhhhh, no thanks.
why not convert him into a bullpen arm.. i think he could do much better out of the pen than he did starting
ReplyDeleteRather have Penny as the fifth starter than Mitre.
ReplyDeleteWho knows how long Joba will be able to last as a starter the rest of this season. We might actually need Penny. Plus he has postseason experience which is a huge plus come playoff time when he might need to be our 4th starter.
ReplyDeleteUm didn't he rip Joe Girardi about throwing at A-Rod.
ReplyDeletePenny sucks he really isn't any better than Mitre.
Great let's bring in another scab. We already have Gaudin and Bruney. NO THANKS...
ReplyDeleteBetter than Mitre... better yet, better than Joba
ReplyDeleteright now.
