He is, and he totally deserves it if he gets it, but an argument can be made for Jeter. He's playing on the best team in baseball, and he's been their best player. It will be an interesting vote.
He'll sign somewhere. It would probably be best for him to sign with an NL team, but I could see him signing in the AL and even with the Yanks. Cashman loves picking up these kind of guys off the scrap heap.
When there was only one division or later, two divisions per league, there was a good case for non-contending teams producing an MVP. With today's 4 team playoff makeup, you have more teams to draw an MVP from.
To have a non-contending team produce an MVP, that player would have to have outstanding stats. Mauer is good, but are his stats so beyond anyone else that he overcomes the contending teams players?
I'm surpised that Tex was not part of that talk for MVP.
ReplyDeleteMe too Liam. But Jeter seems to have stolen his thunder.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised though if Mauer wins it. He's haveing a great season.

ReplyDeleteIt would. Just throughing it out there. Do you think Penny would sign with another team?

ReplyDeleteI could see that.
ReplyDeleteSee ya tonight guys. If theres a game.
ReplyDeleteLater Liam.
ReplyDeleteIf the Twins don't make the playoffs, Jeter should get the AL MVP.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think that should be taken into account.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the above post.
ReplyDeleteThe MVP should not come from a losing team, or one that doesn't contend.
Mauer is having a better year by far I think, but it's all for not if the team doesn't win.
