- A.J. Burnett has made five career starts against the Royals, and is 2-2, with a 3.67 ERA. This will be his first start against them as a Yankee. In his last two starts, Burnett is 1-0, with a 2.13 ERA. In his last 12.2 innings he's allowed 3 ER on 14 hits, walked 6, and struck out 17.

- The Yankees are 3-1 against the Royals this sesaon.
- After winning 3-2 in 10 innings earlier today the Twins trail the Tigers by just one game in the AL Central. They play game two of their doubleheader tonight, with Justin Verlander starting for Detroit, and Brian Duensing going for Minnesota.
- Former Yankee Chuck Knoblauch has been arrested for choking his wife. What a schmuck. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. For more on the story check out this article from the Daily News.
- Congrats goes out to Chad Jennings. He will be replacing Peter Abraham on the Yankees beat as well as the Yankees LoHud blog. Chad did great work covering the SWB Yankees so I'm sure he'll continue that covering the Yanks. He starts on October 7th.
- Mariano Rivera is on this month's cover of SI, and no I don't believe in the SI jinx. Here's the cover:
as it happens in the comments section.
Why is Molina catching?
ReplyDeletePosada's neck still might be bothering him.
ReplyDeleteHe will catch tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI think all the off days for Posada really made him strong and fresh whenever he plays. Him missing basically all of may probably turned out to be a good thing. He got to rest his shoulder and not take the daily beating behind the plate.
ReplyDeleteHe has 22 homeruns and 81 rbi's in 373 at bats. That is really incredible.
Those were very nice gifts that Jeter and Mo got. Including those paintings that they got.
ReplyDeleteNice inning.
ReplyDeleteGreg it doesn't surprise me regarding Knoblauch.
ReplyDeleteOne of my good friends dad works for the NYPD and he had an encounter with Good ole' Chuck Knoblauch in 2002 at a NYC club. Long story short my dads friend was there to monitor the crowd, see if anyone was popping pills and junk like that. Well he watch Chuck enter and leave the mens room a few times, so finally he went in when he saw him enter with another guy. He discovered him doing Coke off the top of a toilet. Didn't arrest, just took it away and made a comment which went to the effect "So this is why you kept throwing balls into the outfield and the stands."
I know there will be doubters but this is 100% legit.
That was Pauls dad right Logan?
ReplyDeleteWhat up people?
I think I got sick while I was at the game last night, ugh it sucks.
Yeah, Pauls pops caught him.
ReplyDeletebtw you might want to come back to the apartment soonish, rents due by the end of the week.
I love the SI cover man, thats sick, cant wait to get it in the mail.
YES just had 34 home runs on the screen for Tex instead of 38. lol. At least they got the Batting Average and RBI's right. Maybe YES is playing the backups tonight.
ReplyDeleteBoston is already down 4-0.... Yet another game they don't want to win I guess. They're so cunning.
ReplyDeleteis it possible that the sox can miss out? or did they clinch?
ReplyDeleteTheir magic number is two, so Texas would pretty much have to win the rest of their games and hope the Sox continue to lose.
ReplyDeleteballs.

LOL They are devious in their stupidity!
That writer really knows how to talk out of his ass well. I wonder if PeteAbe is gunna have to smack them all across the face and tell them thats not journalism, thats stupidity.
ReplyDeleteActually, Boston's magic number is one. Seeing it looks like Texas couldn't beat a little league team right now, the Sox are in.
ReplyDelete"He has 22 homeruns and 81 rbi's in 373 at bats. That is really incredible."
ReplyDeleteThat's not a catcher's primary job. His primary job is to CATCH, call a good game, handle a pitching staff and play good defense. Hitting is way down on the list. Will see how great Posada is in the playoffs and how many games he is abused.
And, why didn't Jeter make that play before on the steal? Too good of a throw by Molina? He does that crap in the playoffs and you can forget about winning.
KC's pitcher must be a ELVIS fan, just got home guys from child car seat safety class at babies are us, kinda funny the girl showing us how to put car seats into your car, doesn't even have kids,
ReplyDeleteAnon, find a tall building and jump.
ReplyDeleteThese pitchers are really pitching a game.
ReplyDeleteYeah Anon.
ReplyDeleteAnon, we have 101 wins and the best record in baseball and you say that our catchers call crappy games? Your a retarded person my friend.
ReplyDeleteguys quit taking ANON's bait, his karma will come back to get him sooner or later...he's a tool. he gets off on getting us riled up, i'm guilty of it, yes we'd all like to give him a beating that he won't forget but he'll get his soon enough....
ReplyDeleteI guess your right, Mario.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Mario, but all I did was tell him to jump off a building. Not about to get into a baseball convo with someone that clueless.
ReplyDeleteyeah i like the line in "40 yr old virgin" when steve carell is to shy to talk to katherine kiener, and she tells him to get to the top of a building and jump, yeah... LOL but we all know he lives in a dungeon/basement he's probably a recluse.... ok tie game, come on boys, lets get AJ his 100th win...
ReplyDeleteYeah!
ReplyDeletey can't pitchers make the throw to 2nd base, that should be drilled into there pea brain heads..damit
ReplyDeleteWTF, BONEHEAD award goes to "PHIL COKE" yeah, your cleaning jockstraps for the rest of the season punk, here's a toothbrush, clean the toliets too
ReplyDeletewhats happenin boys
ReplyDeleteFML
ReplyDeleteHey Capone, what's going on?
ReplyDeleteI'm good, going to see Springsteen tomorrow at Giants Stadium.
Springsteen and Bon Jovi need to die in a fire.
ReplyDeleteFARNSWORTHLESS! COMEBACK TIME, COME ON!
ReplyDeleteI can't stand Bon Jovi, but Springsteen is good. Why do you hate Springsteen?
ReplyDeleteNot sure why, I just dislike his music with a great passion.
ReplyDeleteFair enough I guess.
ReplyDeleteWell not the music, his voice.
ReplyDeleteFor all you Joba doubters , look at how Clay bucholtz pitched tonight....
ReplyDeleteHave alitte patience people, young pitchers need time to develop.
Niiiiiice
ReplyDeleteI may be impatient, but I don't think he's done as a starter, not at all.
ReplyDeleteNice, tie game.
Is it Miranda's turn for some pie?
ReplyDeletethats what she said
ReplyDeleteCHECK! PIE FOR MIRANDA!
ReplyDeleteYES IT IS!
ReplyDeleteMORE PIE!
good looks.
ReplyDeleteanon, FARNSWORTHLESS indeed!
ReplyDeleteI actually feel bad for the guy... Oh well.
ReplyDeletehad a feeling, it was is m.o. when he was here
ReplyDeletesick montage.
ReplyDeletemy wife just said, "little bunny fo fo hopping thru the forest, scouping up the field mice, BOPPING EM ON THE HEAD" get the winning hit, beat the shit out of em, LOL
ReplyDeletehahaha
ReplyDeleteholy crap, buckholtz gave up 5 HR's to blue jay's... phil coke, you owe the guys dinner for cleaning up your mess bro...
ReplyDeletemaybe george, hank and hal make Coke pick up the tab at nyy steak.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I was wrong earlier, the Sox magic number is 1.
ReplyDeletei cant believe texas folded like they did.
ReplyDeleteMe neither, had they just played decent baseball down the stretch they would have had a chance. They're already down 2-0 to the Angels tonight.
ReplyDeleteJosh Hamilton really had a horrendous year too. He went from elite to average so fast.
ReplyDeleteI think the Yankees should add Bruney in the CS and keep Robertson all the way through. His Strikeout rate is crazy. If he has a good few outings its a no brainer.
ReplyDeleteChillin Greg. Just getting back from tennis in time to see the Yanks 15th walk-off win of the year.
ReplyDeleteThey could leave Joba off the DS roster to make room for Bruney and Robertson. Not saying it's necessarily the way I'd go, but it's a possibility.
ReplyDeleteIm not so hot on the idea of Joba starting.
ReplyDeleteWell, Chad Gaudin has started 7 games and the Yankees won those games. Im not saying that Joba sucks, but I think it shows us who knows how to pitch.
ReplyDeleteGet use the idea, Joba's gunna be starting. If the Yanks let him off the leash I think he'll make us proud.
