Obama Thinks Yanks are World Series Bound

(If you have any complaints about health care or any of his other policies, do me a favor and keep it to yourself. Thank you.)

From the AP via the NY Post:

President Barack Obama is such a big Chicago White Sox fan that he's not making any predictions as long as his beloved home team has a mathematical shot at the playoffs.

But he's tipping his hand a bit with mentions of the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees.

He tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that the Cardinals are coming on strong. And he says slugging first baseman Albert Pujols is "unbelievable." Pujols leads the big leagues in home runs, is tied for first in runs batted in, and is second in batting average in the National League.

As for the American League, Obama says the Yankees are doing well. And he singles out New York shortstop Derek Jeter for breaking Lou Gehrig's team record for career hits. Obama calls Jeter "a classic."

I heard Congressman Joe Wilson, a Braves fan, was on the set and shouted "YOU LIE!!!" but was quickly escorted out by NBC security.

Obviously, being the fan that I am, even with today's ugly loss I think the Yankees have a great chance at going all the way. But for most of the year I would have said the Dodgers or Phillies were going to come out of the NL, but lately I'm starting to think differently. The Cards have a very good team and their pitching is very solid. The addition of Matt Holliday and the resurgence of Chris Carpenter only strengthen their already good chances. LA and Philly are great too, but I think this is the Cards year, at least as far as the NL goes. Either way, the NL playoffs should be highly entertaining.

Thanks for the endorsement Mr. President.

If you don't believe me, he won't be on here anymore. I am very sorry if he hurt anyones feelings. I hope you can continue talking about the Yankees and again I am very sorry.

  19. his policies are bullshit, hes leading us to a socialist government, its all bullshit. it was a bullshit election, obama and mccain should have never been picked by their parties. its all bullshit.

  20. lol, we're not headed for socialism. Stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. He's bad for the brain.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Your really buying his shit huh?

    ReplyDelete
  22. No I didn't say he's done a good job, all I said is we're not headed toward socialism. Ask a real socialist like Bernie Sanders from Vermont. This idea that Obama is a socialist was created by the GOP to try and scare America into voting for McCain.

  23. I voted for O-buma as I call him now and regret it.

  24. I suggest you give him at least a full term before coming to any conclusions. It's going to be tough to clean up the mess W left.

Anyway, I'm done talking politics. This post is about Obama praising the Yankees and Jeter. Let's leave it at that.

  26. Well, Mr Woods, he's now using the name Billy Mays. So apparently your boy isn't listing to you.

  27. Politically I'm about as opposed to the guy as a rational man can be, but personally I like him, which makes these things a bit tough. Still, he's a ChiSox fan; if he's going to say "Yankees" he really should have some epithet in front of it.

  28. Thank you misterd for a reasonable response.

  29. why do you believe that it's actually a "mr. woods" when it could be anyone in the universe?

  30. His first name is Austin so it should be him.

  31. Obama saying the Yanks are WS bound is a good thing. He was right when he picked UNC to win it all and he was right when he picked the Steelers and he is 2 for 2 in his predictions as Prez. Lets hope he's right.

  32. Fair point anon, plus the Yankees haven't won a ring with a Republican in office since Eisenhower.
