Yankees Players Hoping Team Re-Signs Damon

(Updated 4:07 p.m.) Via Josh Thomson:
“He was a big part of the reason we won that championship,” [Hal] Steinbrenner said. “But I think right now there’s just a difference of opinion of what the pay is, quite frankly.”
Once again, I just think the Yankees are being cheap. This is about winning another ring, not saving two or three million bucks.

From Ed Price:
Yankees players lobbying internally for team to re-sign Johnny Damon. But he wants $11M/yr, and Yankees not interested at that price.
$11 million per year is fine for Damon. To me the Yankees are just being stubborn.
