The Yankees, as we all know, are going for #28. Not like we need anymore reason to believe they will win World Series Title #28, but I'll give us some anyway.
Since their first appearance in the postseason in the 1921 World Series (a series loss to the New York Giants), to their most recent, a WS Title win against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Yankees have always won in bunches.
1921-1923: 3 WS appearances, 1 Championship
1926-1928: 3 WS appearances, 2 titles
1932: won World Series
1936-1943: 8 WS appearances, 6 WS Championships
1947-1953: won 6 World Series
1955-1964: 9 WS appearances, 4 WS Championships
1976-1978: 3 WS appearances, 2 WS Championships
1981: lost World Series
1996-2001: 5 WS appearances, 4 Championships
2003: lost World Series
2009: won World Series
As you can see, the Yankees certainly do win in bunches. Despite the years of 1932, 1981, and 2003, the Yankees have won World Series after World Series. As you can also tell, though, not all of the championships add up to the number of years in the time period. Hopefully, the Yankees that started in 2009 can duplicate the 1949-1953 Yankees, or the 1936-1939 Yanks, or most recently the 98-00 Yanks.
One thing for sure, though, I'm just hoping they can make it two in a row.
