Brian Cashman is scheduled to fly to Arknasas today to meet with Cliff Lee, The Post has learned.
Lee is the top outside free-agent priority for the team. The Yankees already had reached out to Lee's represenative, Darek Braunecker, Sunday night minutes after teams were allowed to speak with outside free agents to express interest.
Sherman said it was not clear whether Cashman was headed to Arkansas to make an offer or just to show the team's interest. Either way, I wouldn't expect anything to go down quickly. You all know how long these things usually take, and as we heard yesterday, the Yankees are just one of 8 teams that have already shown interest in the left-hander.
