Heyman: Millwood Still on the Yankees Radar

Millwood is quite likely a better option than either Garcia or Colon, if only for his ability to stay healthy. His numbers last season were dreadful, but it is worth noting that he did improve as the season wore on with most of his peripherals trending in the right direction - it seems predicated on him adjusting to his declining stuff, as his strikeouts dipped, but his groundball rate and off-speed usage increased a fair bit. I wouldn't be thrilled to have Millwood in the rotation come April, but I'd be ... less not thrilled than I would if Garcia, Colon, or Mitre were there.

While I was planning on leaving it to the ether, I feel that I do have to comment on Heyman's last point - whether this is indicative of the Yankees feelings on Pettitte. As much as I would like to think that Pettitte will come striding into Spring Training like a knight in shining armor, it does appear that that is getting less likely with each passing day. With that in mind, it does make sense to stockpile depth, even if the team is passing up quality for quantity.
