The Yankees may be a little short in the bullpen when they close their season-opening six-game road trip in Baltimore on Wednesday night.
Reliever Rafael Soriano tore the nail on his right middle finger while warming up during Tuesday night’s win over the Orioles, and manager Joe Girardi isn’t sure if Soriano will be available for the series finale.
"He tore his nail on a slider," Girardi told the media when asked why Soriano was warmed up during the seventh inning and then sat back down in favor of keeping rookie David Phelps in the game.
Coming off an extra-inning game where everyone (but Soriano) pitched, you'd like a full pen, but with CC pitching tonight it probably won't be an issue.
