7/8 Minor League Report

================

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight.
He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will
post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(Triple-A) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (48-34) lost to Buffalo (29-53) 4-1: Box Score - Recap

PITCHING: The Yankees used their bullpen to pitch this game with Romulo Sanchez getting the start. He gave up 1 run in the 1st on a leadoff double and rbi sac fly to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead. In the 3rd, 2 more runs scored on 2 singles, rbi double, and rbi sac fly to give Buffalo a 3-0 lead. Sanchez threw scoreless 4th and 5th innings. He got the first 2 outs in the 6th before giving up a walk and was relieved. 5.2 IP. 3 runs, 5 hits, 2 K's--2 walks. Sanchez got the loss (2-1).

Paul Bush came in with 2 out in the 6th and got the final out. Bush gave up 1 run in the 7th on a walk and 2 singles to up the Buffalo lead to 4-0. On a very weird doubleplay, 2 runners were on 3rd base at the same time after a rundown. PJ Piliterre tagged one of the runners for the 1st out. The other runner thought he was already out and strayed off the base, Piliterre also tagged him for the DP. Bush tossed a scoreless 8th. 2.2 IP, 1 run, 4 hits, 2 K--1 walk.

OFFENSE: Lance Broadway got the start for Buffalo and shutout the Yankees until the 9th inning. SWB threatened in the 4th when Ramiro Pena doubled and Shelley Duncan walked, but were left stranded. In the 5th, they stranded a leadoff double by Yurendal de Caster. Once again a leadoff double in the 6th by Kevin Russo was wasted. The Yanks finally broke thru in the 9th inning off Broadway. Pena reached 2nd base on an infield single and throwing error. Austin Jackson drove Pena in with a RBI single to break up the shutout.

NOTES: Due to bad field conditions at PNC Field, SWB is going to have to play their next 4 games on the road. Thurs & Friday's games will be played at Lehigh Valley, with Saturday and Sunday's games being moved to Syracuse. Shelley Duncan will particapate in the home run derby at the AAA All-Star Game next week. Kevin Russo extended his reached-base streak to 31 games. ... Amauri Sanit was called up from Double-A Trenton.
