Recapping a Busy Night in Baseball

A lot went on last night and I had to bunch up a few of posts so I figured I'd sum things up for you.

• Andy Pettitte was seven outs away from a perfect game before Jerry Hairston Jr.'s error, but the Yanks still won 5-2.

• The Yankees will call up Ramiro Pena, Francisco Cervelli, Mark Melancon, and Mike Dunn today.

• Sergio Mitre will likely miss his scheduled start on Thursday.

• The Yankees traded for minor league outfielder Freddy Guzman.

• I posted the Yankees official press release regarding their playoff ticket pricing.

• After taking 30 swings off a tee Brett Gardner will take batting practice on the field tomorrow. He plans on joining Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday to begin a rehab stint.

• The White Sox have officially given up on 2009 and traded Jim Thome to the Dodgers and Jose Contreras to the Rockies.

• Jon Garland was traded to the Dodgers.

• Brad Penny signed with the Giants.
