NOTES:
-- Before the game the Yankees signed Chad Moeller to a minor-league deal and invited him to spring training to replace the injured Francisco Cervelli. Moeller will be wearing No. 65 and has been told he'll be the starting catcher at Triple-A. "They told me to come in and be ready to play this spring," Moeller said. "Catching is already set here, but it's an opportunity to go and play at Triple-A and be on the field. That's pretty much all you're asking for."

--
Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez make it back to the field tonight after resting their barking shoulders for a few days.

-- Peter Abraham is reporting that the Yankees sign Billy Crystal, yes, the actor. Here's this from his blog:

The Yankees just handed out a press release saying that they will sign Billy Crystal to a contract on Wednesday and that he will play in Thursday’s game against the Pirates. He will wear No. 60. MLB has approved the silliness.

No, I’m not making this up.
