The Yanks were able to salvage the final game of this three game series in Baltimore. The win improved the Yanks record to 26-27.
Andy Pettitte started for the Yanks and for the second start in a row did very well. In 6.2 innings he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, he walked only 1 and struck out 3. He got into some early trouble when he allowed the first two men to reach in the first, but was able to get out of it without allowing a run. The one major mistake he made on the night was a 2-run home run by Melvin Mora in the 3rd.
The Joba Chamberlain transition continued tonight, and after starting off a little shaky pitched 1.1 very good innings. He allowed 1 hit, walked 1 and struck out 3. Chamberlain threw just 28 pitches so he went back to the bullpen to throw some more after the game.
Mariano Rivera picked up his 13th save on the year with a scoreless 9th.

ORIOLES PITCHING
The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd on a Jason Giambi RBI single. The single brought home Hideki Matsui who reached on a 1-out double.
The Giambino struck again in the 4th inning. With 2 out and the Yanks now trailing 2-1 Giambi teed off on a Jeremy Guthrie pitch and sent it out to Eutaw Street. The second time he reached there this series. The HR was Giambi's team-leading 11th on the season.
With 1 out in the 5th Melky Cabrera doubled, and Johnny Damon singled to put men on 1st and 3rd with just one out for Derek Jeter. Jeter came through with a sac fly to give the Yanks a 3-2 lead.
They added their 4th and final run in the top of the 9th. They loaded the bases with one out, but Cabrera struck out, and that left it up to Johnny Damon. Then on what looked like a routine groundout to first, Damon out ran O's pitcher Jamie Walker to first base and reached on an infield RBI single.

Ya know, I've watched basically every game either on tv or online at work, and when i read these game sums i usually just skim through for key numbers pertaining to fantasy implications. But today I napped for the whole game and while I DVR'd it... I deleted the broadcast and just came on here for what i needed to know, then just brought up the gameday for the game to see giambi's blast.
Greg, we have lots of fun on here, but I must say thanks for these summaries, you do a bang up job.
Thanks,
Derek a.k.a. Lunchbox
ps: Maybe you can link us the gameday or mlb.com links to some key hits n homers? Fastforwarding through a dvr has become a ninja worthy task of stopping and starting on cue. Hahaha, thanks again bro.
