For those of you who were wondering, Mark Teixeira won't participate in the home run derby.
"I'm just not a Home Run Derby guy," Teixeira said. "It doesn't fit well for me. If I go out there and just hit two or three home runs, I'd rather let someone else go out and do it."
"I was terrible and embarrassed myself, so I'm not going to do that again," Teixeira said.

It really surprised me when I was watching the selection show and them showing Teix as the starter. I did not think he'd come back out on top, but I'm sure glad he did. And wow, he won by quite a bit.
I'm also glad he's not participating in the derby. However, it's been a long time since a Yankee has participated.
Great too see Teixeira as the starter. Youkillis enjoy your time on the pine.
Why the hell is Wakefield an all-star with his 4.20 ERA?
It has to be the ten wins, and for some reason the managers still think wins are a valuable stat to judge a pitcher. Some how Tim Wakefield is an all-star because his team scores a ton of runs for him.
Have to admit I voted 25 times for Tex just because I HATE Youkilis. I also like Tex a lot too and I'm glad he'll be starting. Kinda pissed Pedroia beat out Kinsler though, oh well. I'd rather have him starting than that buffoon Youkilis. Go Tex!
Also glad to see Jetes get so many votes!
I normally don't vote for the all star game but I made an exception this year because I wanted to see Tex beat out youkilis at first.
There was obviously a huge vote the last week, with over a third of the total votes for Tex and youkilis coming in the last 2 days.
From mlb.com:
"According to totals provided by MLB, with two days remaining in the race on Tuesday, Youkilis was ahead by 40,047 votes, owning more than 1.9 million votes. But Teixeira covered the deficit plus some, collecting 3,309,050 votes to edge out Youkilis (3,069,906), last year's AL starting first baseman."
So Yanks fans are happy to get their 3 All-stars (really 2 1/2, since Jeter won by default). I must admit I voted for Youk 25 times to try and keep Mercenary Mark off the team. On a purely numbers basis, both guys should be in, of course.
On the Jeter topic, isn't is amazing how the AL used to be the haven for SS excellence, and now it has an over the hill Jeter and nobody else. On the numbers, Jason Bartlett in TB should have been in over Jeter, but most Rays don't have the name recognition to get in over a Yank, anyway.
No gripes about Rivera... he deserved it.
Mercenary Mark? lol
How are you going to complain about Jeter when Pedroia got voted in?
Pedroia has no business on this year's team, let alone the starting lineup. Aaron Hill should be starting at second base.
