Quick Hits
-The Yankees are a win away from their 1st World Series appearance since 2003 but have lost 5 straight clinchers in the ALCS.
- Andy Pettitte has faced the Angels 28 times in his career, and is 12-10 with a 4.70 ERA in those games. In Anaheim he's 6-7 with a 4.19 ERA in 16 starts. He made three starts against the Angels in '09 and was 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA. In 16 innings he allowed 14 earned runs on 21 hits, walked 8, and struck out 6.
- Pettitte is 7-2 after a Yankee Postseason Loss. He's also tied with John Smoltz for first all-time in postseason wins with 15.
- Joe Saunders has made five starts against the Yankees in his career, and is 2-1, with a 6.28 ERA. Only one of those starts came in the Bronx and in that game Saunders allowed 2 earned runs on 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4 in a win. In two starts against the Yanks this year Saunders went 1-0, with a 4.72 ERA. In 13.1 innings he allowed 7 earned runs on 16 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3.
-Game 5 is the only game so far this Postseason where Arod has not driven in a run.
-Nick Swisher is in a funk. 2 for his last 17, not good.
-Will we see D-Rob in a tight spot? Joba's BAA is .500 and Hughes is getting tattooed this postseason, giving up 9 hits in just under 5 innings of work.
- Bernie Williams will throw out tonight's ceremonial first pitch.
- In case you were worried about the MLB.com jinx, here's the link for Angels AL Champs gear.
-Also this is for Robert Nicholson and his family. Yesterday Robert shared a sad but heartwarming story here. He included a picture of his son Tyler, which he describes as being a good luck charm. Lets Go Yanks! Get it for Robert and Tyler.
