"This is why I signed," Burnett said before yesterday's off-day workout. "The opportunity to pitch in the postseason, you know. ...The first year over here I have an opportunity, so I'm taking full advantage of it. I cannot wait."
Burnett added that he would be "even a little more amped" if tonight's game was back in the Bronx, but stressed that he doesn't expect to have trouble channeling any "excess energy" toward his outing against John Lackey and the Angels.
"The focus has been a lot more intense," Burnett said. "I mean, you tell yourself throughout the season that every pitch counts and to throw every pitch with conviction, but for some reason in the postseason you focus and make sure a little more."Burnett also said that he's looking forward to pitching in warm weather. Speaking of weather, it's going to rain on Saturday so there's another reason why the Yankees and A.J. Burnett need to wrap things up tonight.
