PITCHING: Dan McCutchen promoted from AA Trenton, made his AAA debut and took the loss. McCutchen started off shaky. In the 1st inning he worked out of a jam after giving up 2 singles. In the 2nd, Indy scored 1 run on 2 singles and a double giving Indianapolis a 1-0 lead. After that he settled down nicely over the next 4 innings, allowing 2 singles and getting 4 strikeouts. In the 7th inning, McCutchen blew a 3-1 lead being charged with 3 runs. He gave up a solo homer, 2 triples, sac fly. That made the score 4-3 Indianapolis. McCuthen's line 6.1 IP, 4 runs, 10 hits, 4 K's--0 walks. He threw 97 pitches, 53 for strikes.
David Robertson relieved McCutchen in the 7th inning with 1 out and a runner on 3rd. A wild pitch scored the winning run charged to McCutchen. Robertson pitched a scoreless 8th inning giving up a double. ... Scott Patterson came on to pitch the 9th inning and gave up 2 runs on a double and 2-run homer to make the score 6-3. He also allowed a single.
OFFENSE: SWB took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd on a Greg Porter double and Wilson Betemit 2-run homer. ... In the 6th they scored their 3rd run on doubles by Eric Duncan and Cody Ransom. That gave SWB a 3-1 lead after 6 innngs.
NOTES: Jason Lane's minor league deal runs out at the end of the month. Lane leads SWB in homers and RBI. ... Catcher Chris Stewart missed the game with a sprained ankle he suffered Friday night. ... Wilson Betemit made his 2nd rehab start and played 2nd base. He's eligible to come off the DL on Monday.
