The Yankees made it four in a row with a 12-6 win over Seattle today. The win inches the Yanks closer to the .500 mark with a record of 24-25.
Mike Mussina started for the Bombers and wasn't great, but he was good enough to pick up his 7th win of the season. The Yanks had a 4-0 lead heading into the top of the 3rd, but Mussina handed the runs right back as he allowed 2 HRs in the 3rd when the Mariners scored 4 to tie the score.
Mussina settled down and finished off his outing with a scoreless 4th and 5th. In 5 IP, Mussina allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, and he struck out 4 and walked 1.
Today was phase two of the Joba Chamberlain transition. He was supposed to throw 50 pitches, but only threw 40 in 2 scoreless innings of work. He completed his day of work in the bullpen.
Kyle Farnsworth pitched the 8th and got roughed up. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, one of them a long HR off the bat of Richie Sexson. He's slowly pitching himself out of the running to replace Joba as the setup man. And Jose Veras pitched a 1-2-3 9th to finish off the game.

Another very good day for the Yankees offense as they pounded out 12 runs on 16 hits. The Yankees started the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd when Jason Giambi blasted a 3-run HR off M's starter Carlos Silva. The HR was Giambi's team-leading 9th. The Yanks added another run on a Melky Cabrera RBI single.
After Mussina blew the lead the Yanks took it right back in the bottom of the 3rd on another RBI single by Cabrera.
The Yanks added 2 more runs in the 6th on an opposite field 2-run homer by Bobby Abreu, his 6th of the year. They added 5 more runs in the 7th on and RBI singles by Robinson Cano and Jose Molina, a 2-run ground-rule double by Abreu, and a bases loaded walk by Hideki Matsui.
Five Yankees had multi-hit games including Robinson Cano who had 4, and Jason Giambi who had 3.
