I don't know about you guys, but I'm done talking about the Yankees' Game 5 loss on Thursday. What I really want to be talking about is how the Yankees can wrap up the ALCS and head to the World Series with a Game 6 win over the Angels tonight.
The Angels, as you know, are coming off the Game 5 win on Thursday, and have a little momentum going their way. They're throwing Joe Saunders to the mound to oppose Andy Pettitte, and in Game 2, Saunders pitched well, going 7 innings allowing 2 runs, only to be overshadowed by the Yankees walking off in 13 innings. But I think this time around, the Yankees will know what's coming, and should be able to score a good 4 or 5 runs off him tonight.
As for the Yanks, although they lost Game 5, they were very upbeat yesterday and are looking forward to tonight's game. And, who could blame them? They're back at Yankee Stadium, they got Andy Pettitte on the mound, and they have a chance to return to the World Series with a win tonight. Andy has started in many postseason games like this one, and he seems to always deliver. In his Game 3 start down in Anaheim, Pettitte went 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. A good outing, but the Angels ended up winning the game in walkoff fashion. I think our vet will deliver as he's always had, and should put the Yankees in a good position to spray some champagne tonight.
All in all, I believe the Yankees will wake up tomorrow morning with a date with the Phillies, because I think tonight the Yankees will beat the Angels and move on to the World Series. Despite Andy's career struggles in games like this, I think Andy will go 6 or 7 strong innings, the offense will score 5+ runs, and the Yankees will be crowned American League Champions. Go Yanks!
