Pettitte Misses Start Due to Back Spasms

From ESPN:

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte was scratched from his scheduled start in a minor league game Saturday because of back spasms.

Pettitte said his back locked up while driving home after working out Thursday. He expects to make his next start Thursday and be ready for the regular season.

"I feel a lot better today than I did yesterday," Pettitte said. "Yesterday the middle of my back was locked up all the way down. Today, I just feel a little tight down in my lower back."

The Yanks are hopeful Pettitte can make his start on Thursday and be ready for the April 2nd, the second game of the seasons against Toronto.

"Back spasms can happen to anyone," manager Joe Girardi said. "You worry if there's a guy with a cranky shoulder or a cranky arm. There's probably been four or five guys [on the Yankees] who have had back spasms all spring."

Even though he will probably be alright, this is just another reason why a team can never have too much pitching.
