Game Postponed, Yanks Will Wake Up Tomorrow In 1st

As most of you probably know already, tonight's game has been rained out and will be part of a day-night doubleheader tomorrow. Game one will be at 4:10 p.m. on FOX and game two will be at 9:05 p.m.

In other news, Tampa Bay lost to Kansas City 7-0 tonight, so the Yankees are a half-game in front of the AL East.

The Rain Follows Yanks To Philly

As of 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, Weather.com was forecasting showers at the scheduled 7:57 p.m. first pitch. Their call was for a 40 percent chance of precipitation and temperatures around 61 degrees under cloudy skies. The chances of precipitation were to jump to 70 percent before midnight.

The National Weather Service called for showers on Saturday, mainly before midnight, with a low around 47 degrees and a west wind around nine mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

AccuWeather.com was reporting that there would be a 52 percent probability of precipitation between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. in Philadelphia, with temperatures around 62 degrees for the scheduled first pitch. Showers could continue off and on through the middle innings.

"The best chance of heavier rain won't begin until the late innings or until after the game ends. If the teams go into extra innings, there is a good chance that steadier rain could impact the game," wrote Accuweather.com's Eric Reese.

Hoch also said that they expect to be able to get the game in, and based on those reports I do too. The rainout prior to game 6 of the ALCS was a pain in the butt, but didn't really hurt the Yankees unless they had lost to force a game 7.

A rain out tonight would probably erase the off day between games 5 and 6 and seriously screw up the Yankees pitching plans while simultaneously helping the Phillies and their pitching plans. So please, no freaking rain.

Damn Rain

There continues to be an 80-90% chance of rain from the start of tonight's game until midnight. And this isn't just rain either, it's actually thunderstorms. The radar doesn't look any more promising. The forecast was bad for games 1 and 2, but not this bad. Tonight could be a washout, folks.

WARNING: Rain In Forecast

Well, the meteorologists were wrong in Games 1 and 2, let's hope they can be wrong again. Once again, the radars and forecasts are showing anywhere from 60%-90% chance of rain from 12 AM Saturday to 3 AM Sunday. It will be around 50, 60 degrees for this, but I'm sure if it was 85 degrees outside, and sunny, a downpour cannot be played through (just making a point). I'm just hoping this rain will not stop the play of Game 6 tomorrow, because, as all of us want, expect, pray, hope, if the Yankees advance, rain will just give them less time to prepare for the Phils.
I think this will be my style, to finish each post with a clincher, good, bad, cheesy, whatever it might be.

Game 2 Weather Updates

(UPDATE: 4:29 p.m.) Well, things have started to turn in the other direction. There is now a 15% chance of rain at 7 p.m., a 40% chance at 8 p.m., and a 50-55% chance of rain from 9-10 p.m.

(UPDATE: 3:40 p.m.) There is now just a 10% chance of rain at 7 p.m. and a 20-25% chance through the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. hours.

(UPDATE: 2:48 p.m.) Once again the forecast has improved. Now there is 35% chance of rain at 7:00 p.m., a 40% chance of rain at 8:00 p.m., and 60-70% from 9:00-11:00 p.m. It's not much of a difference but at least it's trending in the right direction.

(UPDATE 2:02 p.m.) The forecast has improved slightly. There is now a 40% chance of rain at 7 p.m., but there remains a 60% until 10 and that bumps up to 70% at 11. Based on the updated satellite predictions it looks like rain could stay away until 9 p.m......... More updates coming.

When I went to bed earlier this morning (5:30 a.m.) the weather for today had a 90% chance of rain all night, that has dropped to 60%-70% from 7 p.m. - midnight, so at least it's improving. Still, the reports don't look promising and this one could be a washout.

The satellite also looks pretty bad.

According to Senior Meteorologist Matt Rinde here at AccuWeather.com, weather conditions should deteriorate late in the day. A light rain or some drizzle should become a steady rain right around or just before game time. With temperatures expected to be in the mid-40s and with a northeast wind around 15-20 mph (wind chills will be in the upper 20s), a miserable day is in store for the metro area. It is unlikely that the game will be able to be played.

If you read this post over at New Stadium Insider, tonight's game even sounds less likely to be played.

I will keep an eye on the weather and continue to update this post throughout the day if anything changes. If tonight's game is postponed the game will be played tomorrow @ 4:35 p.m.

Weather Update @ 11:30 AM

Well the weather is just great isn't it? Rainy, cold and the dampness just goes right to your bones.

Still a 60% chance of rain the hours before and after the start of Game 1. There's not to many storms on the radar so lets hope it holds off or shifts in direction. Hell break out the superstitions and do the rain dance backwards if needed.

Update @ 12:35. Well when I checked out the radar this morning I didn't see many storms but the forecast still looked bleak. From what I just saw on The Weather Channel it shouldn't be to bad tonight. They said rain's on the way but nothing like yesterday, a few down pours here and there but mostly a heavy mist. Tomorrow sounds like a different story but we will wait till tomorrow to talk about that beast. If your going to the game dress in layers, and don't forget the rain jacket, stay dry and stay warm.

Update @ 3:35, CHECK OUT THE FORECAST! No rain at the start of the game and it looks like they'll have a window till about 10 or 11 to get this one done. Good news. GO YANKS!
