Yankees Officially Sign Travis Hafner

From Yankees.com:
The Yankees on Friday finalized a one-year contract with free-agent slugger Travis Hafner, who is expected to help fill the club's designated hitter slot for the 2013 season.

Hafner, 35, batted .228 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs in 64 games for the Indians last season. Cleveland cut ties with Hafner in October, choosing to pay the left-handed hitter a $2.75 million buyout instead of a $13 million option for the '13 season.

The owner of 201 home runs over 11 Major League seasons, Hafner has not played the field since 2007. As a full-time DH with the Yanks, he'll essentially fill the role envisioned last season for Raul Ibanez.
The Yankees designated outfielder Russ Canzler for assignment to make room on the 40-man.

Rumor: Yankees May Be Close To Deal With Travis Hafner

https://twitter.com/bradfo/status/296658748976537600
Pronk, who hasn't been able to stay healthy since 2007, only played 66 games for the Tribe last season, hitting .228/.346./.438 with 12 HR and 34 RBI. If healthy, he could be a cheap and decent option at DH.

AJ For Hafner?

https://twitter.com/#!/JonHeymanCBS/status/169482309676961792
After a slew of injuries, Pronk never regained his 2004-2007 form, but he has been solid over the past three seasons. Over that span he's averaged 14 HR and 52 RBI while hitting a respectible .277/.364/.456. He's also left-handed, which is always good in the Bronx (unless your name is Mark Teixeira).

UPDATE: There is also other report out of Cleveland that say there aren't any talks going on with the Yanks and Indians, but that talks had previously taken place and the deal is dead. So, like most rumors, take this one with a grain of salt.
