Does Girardi really think sitting Giambi against lefties is going to help this team?

Here are the spilit:

vs. RH .254 BA .389 OBP .518 SLG .907 OPS

vs. LH .247 BA .402 OBP .517 SLG .919 OPS

Girardi is a moron.

good news for us, Crawford and Longoria have both been placed on the DL. Longoria has a fractured right wrist and Crawford felt a pop in his right hand. They both could be out for month, and posssibly the year. Even though they're 8 and 1/2 games ahead of us, these injuries put us much much closer. Not to mention their schedule gets tougher too. There may be hope afterall.

cano on 3rd, sexson on 1st with no outs. pudge flies out and melky GIDP. FUCK THIS TEAM!!!!

Greg Cohen said...

It's becoming more sad than frustrating.

Hahaaha gotta love Pete Abe:

"UPDATE, 5:39 p.m.: Spoke to Johnny Damon, who had no idea until he showed at the park and saw the lineup that he wasn’t playing today. “I feel fine,” he said.

Hey, it’s not like the Yankees are 8.5 games out and he’s leading the AL in hitting."

Greg Cohen said...

And those stranded runners already come back to haunt us. Great job guys.

Anonymous said...

I used to love Girardi, thought he was definitely the man for this job. Well it turns out I was dead wrong, and Girardi is an idiot.

He make dumb move after dumb move and I can't take it anymore. Why are BOTH Giambi and Damon sitting against a guy that lefties hit .330 against? WHY?

Greg Cohen said...

I don't get it either anon.

Anonymous said...

as difficult as it is, i can deal with us not making the postseason...we can't make it every year. but with this being the last year in yankee stadium, we just can't go out this early. i was really hoping for one more magical season. turns out the magic is working against us this year.

Greg Cohen said...

Yeah that's what bothers me the most as well. In the last year at Yankee Stadium, this is the season they give us? I know injuries have killed this team, I understand that, but come on, if the players who are healthy were doing close to their job they'd be at least leading the wild card.

Anonymous said...

Is anyone else not surprised at all that this joke lineup isn't doing anything?

Greg Cohen said...

And the Anti-Clutch strikes again. Way to go Alex!

another day, another terrible game. 3 runs in 3 innings, with Nathan for one of those innings. I dont think thats possible for this team right now. Maybe if he puts Damon and Giambi in NOW!. Ponson has pitched good again, he probably misses that Texas offense right now, they would have scored for him.

Greg Cohen said...

It's starting to get worse and worse everyday.

Anonymous said...

why does he have to put in Damon and Giambi? When the HELL have they made a difference. Damon and Giambi SUCK and are not good. They're just a bunch of old men like Jeter and the rest. OVERPAID, OVERRATED BUMS.

Anonymous said...

FIRE LONG!!.. CLAP-CLAP CLAP-CLAP-CLAP.

Anonymous said...

Damon leads the league in hitting, Giambi is better than Sexson. We have a better shot with them Christian should not be leading off for us, ever!! The 7,8,9,and lead off spots are basically automatic outs.

Anonymous said...

SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

2-1 RED SOX, FUCK!

Greg Cohen said...

I really can't believe Kevin Long still has a job. This team in unprepared to hit every day.

I can't even watch this anymore.

BOO!!!!!

These really dont give a shit. They figure there still getting paid the same, and they dont have to bust their ass. And why even push to make the playoffs, when we would get swept in the first round by the Angels. THEY DONT CARE! After the game they'll put on their sad and sour face, and say "we have to start winning, and playing better". Its all bullshit. The fact of the matter is, WE CARE MORE THAN THEY DO! Thye just want to get back to hotel, bang some broad and get drunk. I SAY FUCK 'EM ALL!

Anonymous said...

Is it just me, or does Pudge seem to always throw the ball to the shortstop side of the bag.

It doesn't seem like he's an improvement at all over Molina-- with the bat or with the glove.

Anonymous said...

he does it all the time. i dont know if he tries to throw it to hard or tries to aim it. its not working!

Greg Cohen said...

They care, believe me they care. Yes, I'm sure they are happy with their lives because they have money, but this is the game they love to play, it's their lives, they care. They just stink.

whos pitching on wednesday? anyone know?

Anonymous said...

We the FANS want answers and we want them now. I am sick of the media and this team.

What’s our record since Cashman traded away 4 minor league prospects, Pudge for Farnsy, etc…?

How many people has Pudge thrown out vs. bases stolen since coming here?

How are those 4 minor league prospects doing since the trade?

How many GIDP does Jeter have this year, in regards to the rest of the league?

When does Cano ever run hard?

What has Arod, Jeter, and Giambi done to merit their contracts and pay?

Why is Melky not in AAA?

Why does Cashman and Girardi have jobs, ditto for Giambi, Jeter and Arod?

How many DH/1st Base are necessary on ONE team?

How many games has Mariano Rivera given away this year?

Anonymous said...

how about a pinch hit grand slam by giambi? .....not going to happen but we deserve it.

Greg Cohen said...

Not sure who is starting on Wed yet, Maybe Rasner.

Greg Cohen said...

"how about a pinch hit grand slam by giambi? .....not going to happen but we deserve it."

Yes anon, we do.

Anonymous said...

Mariano has sucked in tie games, but he makes up for it in not blowing a save this year.

Anonymous said...

What the HELL is Damon doing on the bench this game? The splits (as posted) are awful for Perkins (330 BAA vs. lefties), yet Joe sits down as many lefties as possible. Brilliant move Joe. Bench the league leader in BA, as well as your best hitter with RISP in favor of Christian and Melky. Wow.

The 7 right handed hitters in tonight's lineup combined for 1 hit.

Girardi has finally convinced me... he's is a completely awful manager. There's no two ways about it any more. He's lost.

Anonymous said...

You SUCK Arod. You swing at a 2-0 pitch when you have no business swinging unless you KNOW the pitch you're sitting on, then swing at garbage then you dont swing when you should. YOU ARE A LOSER. I can't believe taht I have to watch 9 more years of YOUR garbage. SCREW YOU YANKEES and CASHMAN.

You SUCK Jeter. You suck Abreu. You SUCK Cashman, Girardi, Damon, Giambi and all the other OVERHYPED, OVERPAID, OVERRATED BUMS.

Now, go write about a 21 year old Ian Kennedy you DUMBASS news media.

Anonymous said...

yeah, I hated sitting Damon and Giambi. Other anon thinks they all suck, I dont know what Greg thinks. Girardi is lost.

Anonymous said...

Who cares about the save mariano has gotten. He's been a choke artist since the 2001 World Series. He's just another overpiad, overhyped overrated news media loved BUM.

Greg Cohen said...

Mo is the greatest closer in the history of the game, don't blame him cause this team isn't any good.

Anonymous said...

One last thing Yankee fans.....STOP supporting this team, ownership until they put a viable product on the field. If you give them your money while they overpay for bums like Arod, Posada, Rivera, Jeter et al and dont' make obvious trades (Santana) then YOU deserve what you paid for.

You have to hit the ownership were it hurts.....in the wallet. DO IT NOW!

Anonymous said...

wait until he's gone.

Anonymous said...

yankee fans wont stop coming until they are under .500 for many years, with nothing to offer the fans.

Anonymous said...

Nobody gives a shit if Mo is the greatest closer of all time. That's another news media propaganda term. Mo hasn't done sh!t since 2000. And, Mo has cost this team many game this year so I will blame him. Its absolute horse shit that fans continue to support him. I am sick of him just like everyone else on this PATHETIC loser team. He has cost us dearly this year.

Anonymous said...

The YES post game highlights......"Double play is something that has hurt this team on this road trip."

Hey you idiot DUMBASS news media. It is just this road trip. Its been all year. You aren't qualified to speak you news media moron.

The DP's have hurt this team this year, last year and for years. Who the hell are you kidding with this .250 lineup that hits HR's when its 9-0 and the rest of the time they ground into DP's, SO or Fly out. SHUT THE FUCK UP NEWS MEDIA.

Anonymous said...

who would you rather have closing? he's the best option, ever. we are so lucky to have Mo. Just shut up, you dont know shit. How old are you 15?

Greg Cohen said...

I think he/she is just angry.

Anonymous said...

SHUT UP you straw argument NEWS MEDIA. If you're going to make a complaint then make a valid one. Saying that Christian shouldn't play for Damon is STUPIDiTY beyond stupidity. If you're going to sit someone then you sit Melky "I am not a MLB hitter" Cabrera and let Christian play. Cabrera sucks and should be in AAA.

Giambi and Damon blah blah blah. Typical news media. They are snake oil salesman. News creates news ($$$$$$$$).

Yup, Jason "I can leave more men on base in 1 game than a third world team like the Marlins can all year" Giambi and Johny "I lead the MLB in hitting but can't get a SAC FLY when needed" Damon have really been the CURE for our team.

STUPID news media.

Anonymous said...

"who would you rather have closing? he's the best option, ever. we are so lucky to have Mo. Just shut up, you dont know shit. How old are you 15?"

More straw man arguments. Typical. Saying MO is the best closer ever has NOTHING to do with 2008. NOTHING. NATHAN. NADA. ZILCH. Why dont you and the news media educated morons SHUT UP. I dont' care what Mo did in 1998, 1999 and 2000. This is 2008! Go give up another hit or HR to cost us a game MO.

What kind of organization signs not one but TWO almost 40 year old players in the off-seasson to 4 year contracts? A stupid one!

What kind of organization signs the most UNCLUTCH, NEVER DONE ANYTHING PLAYER to a 10 year $300 m contract in the SAME off-season? A really stupid one!

What kind of organization doesn't trade a great lefty starting pitcher for a CFer (Melky) who belongs in AAA, a pitcher that is ALWAYS hurt (Hughes) and another pitcher (Kennedy) who's fastball is 87-89 mph and has no other pitches he can throw? A really, really STUPID one.

And, you want to know why this team sucks so bad? It so bad because it continually makes STUPID decisions. Its called REAPING and SOWING.

Anonymous said...

Mo has "cost us dearly" this season? Please. Don't embarrass yourself. He hasn't blown a save. He's lost a few games when it was tied, but those aren't "wins in the bag" like a save situation is. And it's not like Figgins did anything against him the other night. It was pure luck - nothing you can do about it.

First of all, the payroll issues and this BS about complaining to the organization until they put a "good product" on the field is a joke. The product is fine, the injuries are what have killed this team. Wang, Posada, Hughes, Joba, Matsui... if Posada doesn't get hurt, then Farnsworth isn't traded... deeper pen.

But anyway, I blame Mo, too. He's the reason this team can't get a runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs, he's the reason they're near last in the league with RISP, he's the reason that Wang, Hughes, Joba, Posada, A-Rod, and Matsui all got injured, and he's the reason that Joe Girardi doesn't have a clue who to play and when.

Greg Cohen said...

By the way, it was asked earlier who would start Wednesday. Well since Rasner was not used in relief today he will get the start.

And can you please stop bashing Mo anon?

Greg Cohen said...

By the way, once again thanks for all the comments. I just wish some of the anons would use their name, easier to tell people apart, ya know?

Anway, thanks again.

Anonymous said...

no need to blame ownership, they are the last ones that should get the blame. no one else would spend as much money to try to win a championship.
