Still looks like the actual Stadium is intact to me. It doesn't seem like they have started tearing that section apart yet. Anyways, I won't be REAL upset until I see things like the facade come down. I hope they at least show some class and use a wrecking ball.
It is the most historic stadium ever, not the best, and not the best looking, at least in my opinion.. I really don't understand how people are not psyched about moving into a newer, technologicalier (if thats a word) stadium. Anyway, I thought they weren't destroying it until summer?
"Are you sure this is demo and not some work on the sidewalk in preparation for the new season and all the foot traffic through that area?"
That's what I was wondering. I thought I read where as the city had not even sought bids from demolition firms yet, the demolition would not take place until 2010 at the earliest. Have things changed?
How do you know this? It looks like they are clearing out some rocks and debris, possibly replacing some old, cracked concrete, and possibly re-sanding the grout lines between the bricks. Since the removal of the old pedestrian bridge, there may have been work that needed to be done near there, too.
I'm just wondering how anyone "knows" that this is demolition preparation, because it doesn't look like that to me.
I said it seems that this is the initial preparations for the demolition of the stadium. The River Avenue Blues guys and Mike Silva seem to agree with me. However, none of us know anything for certain.

It seems to be preparation for the future demolition of the stadium. Either way, they've begun the process, that's what this post is about.
