Yanks Told Wang Not To Do Normal Work On Legs

According to Andrew Marchand on yesterday's Michael Kay Show, Brian Cashman told him that the Yankees told Chien-Ming Wang not to do his normal leg exercises this off season while he rehabbed his injured foot. Cashman also admitted to Marchand that it was probably a mistake and it's probably led to his lack of velocity and slow start.

Cashman also said that they told Brian Bruney to do the same. Unlike Wang, Bruney's velocity was fine when he was healthy, but Cashman did say that the lack of leg strength could be the cause of his elbow problems.

Wang's agent Alan Nero told Marchand that Wang is upset that he was told not to work on his legs, but he'll do whatever the team asks.

This leaves me with one question: What the hell is wrong with the Yankees medical department?

Not only does this team get ravaged by injuries every year, but now they have no idea how to handles those injuries. Cashman blamed the mistake on the team’s lack of experience with that kind of injury, which is absolutely pathetic. For a team that has as much money as they do you'd think they'd invest some of it on competent medical staff.

Are you surprised? Remember the exercise guru they hired a few years and ten pulled hamstrings ago? How long did that guy last?

Yea I remember that. I think the guy's name was Marty Miller and they fired him about a month into the season.

Brian Cashman is an idiot

WTF?!?! Cashman was all blunt about Wang's attitude yesterday, turns out it was Cashman's fault

Yeah Clueless Cashman. Hes lucky he took over at the point he did or he would have been gone a long time ago. Hes not the one that built that dynasty team, Gene Michael and Bob Watson did.

Yeah Cashman, sounds like its really Wang's fault that he started off bad--he never was 100% and still isn't. I wish the Yankee management would start taking some responsibility for things....

Does this mean Wang will stay in the bullpen if they're worried about injuring himself?

Cashman is a moron once again it turned out to be his fault. I dont expect much from someone who thought Kei Igawa was better than Ted Lilly.

Please using that it was a uncommon injury excuse the yankees are suppose to have the best doctors and rehab doctors in sports.

and everyone blamed the injuries on Torre and the team not being in shape to start the season...

Torre was always the easy target. Meanwhile he took this team to the playoffs every year and now has a Manny-less Dodger team 20 games over .500.
