- There is a report going around that the Yanks and Reds are working on a deal centered around Bronson Arroyo. I have no interest in seeing him in pinstripes so I hope these rumors all false. If I hear anything else I'll definitely pass it along.
UPDATE 8:40 p.m.: Mark Feinsand and Peter Abraham are saying that the Arroyo rumors are false.
Break up the Yankees: In their last 28 games they're 22-6, and they're now two and a half games ahead of the Red Sox for first place. They're 15-6 in July and since Alex Rodriguez returned they're 47-23.
- Over his last seven starts A.J. Burnett is 5-1, with a 1.93 ERA. In 18 starts against Tampa Burnett is 8-4, with a 3.01 ERA. This season he's 1-0, with 3.21 ERA against them in two starts. In 14 innings he's allowed 5 ER on 9 H, walked 3, and struck out 17.
- James Shields has faced the Bronx Bombers eight times in his career and the Yanks have handled him pretty well. In those starts he's 1-6, with a 5.73 ERA. However, the last time he faced the Yankees was last September at The Stadium, and he threw 8 shutout innings, allowing just 5 hits, and struck out 6 for the win.
- Happy 34th birthday to Alex Rodriguez?
- The Yankees are second in the American League with a 25-21 record on the road, behind only the Angels who are 28-20.
- The Yanks have won eight of their previous nine series.
- More proof the Mets are a joke.

I can't stand when they play in Tampa. Those damn cowbells are so annoying.
you think the cowbells is bad on tv, try going to a game, my wife's grandmother lives in St. Pete, being at the game, if i ever go back, i'll take a hammer to hammer the damn bells so they can't ring anymore..
and besides the cowbells, the fans down there don't seem to be the most knowledgeable either, like the booing when AJ throws over to
1st, you have to expect that with 2 of the top 3 stolen base stealers...
I have a buddy of mine that lives down there and he is a big Yankee fan. Just before he left, I told him to enjoy the friggin' cowbells and he thanked me for reminding him to bring earplugs.
It's annoying and stupid.
why didn't damon go on to 3rd, there was no one covering it
that was so low, terrible call... freaking ump
i know matsui has been decent batting behind AROD, but i'd still like to see someone else bat 5th? any ideas????
ok, tampa just dodged a bullet there, big half inning here, keep em off the board...
I can hear Sterling now...
back to back and a belly to belly
This team is a lot of fun to watch right now.
well the chemistry this team exudes, they almost have a different hero every game, series, or week... obviously adding AJ & CC helps, but the defense Tex has shown at 1B has raised everyone up to another level...
Hey greg, the 2 catching prospects, Montero & Romine, how are their ARMS, can they throw runners out?
Mario,
I know Romine has a good arm. Montero is a work in progress. I think he has a strong arm, but isn't accurate. But I could be wrong about that.
Hopefully Melancon can get in...
I thought that was gone. But a nice couple of insurance runs driven in by ARod.
I don't like this Robertson vs. Pena matchup at all.
come on now, 1 more out..
i was thinking the samething, but didn't want to say it, greg..
whew nice,
What in the world was that... like a screwball...
Great job by Robertson.
Huge out for Robertson.
At least everyone got in on the parade...
Nice statement game for the Yanks. Now they got CC on the mound tomorrow against a struggling Kazmir. Hopefully he doesn't regain his form against us tomorrow.
Robertson doesn't look 190 lbs.
Bartlett shouldn't be hitting ninth in their lineup.
Damon's about to faint.
Nice win, Yanks keep on rollin'.
I wish Suzan and John would get trashed on cocktails during the game. They're nearly incoherent to start with, it would be great if they were totally plastered - they might never complete a sentence.
An alternative to this fantasy I would also support is them getting coked up every game. Every time the bat makes contact John would call and home run, and Suzan could fire off like a machine gun "ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya", then barf all over Jeter in a post game spazout meltdown interview.
Now I'm thinking I like the coked up idea the best.
Nice win! Damn this team is fun to watch!
yankees only one game back of the dodgers for best record. how about that?
