Heyman on the Yanks

John Heyman has a new article up on SI.com and in it he mentions a few things about the Yankees.

- They called the Mariners to ask about Jarrod Washburn, but the M's said they weren't ready to make a move yet. Heyman said that could change, and if they were to trade for Washburn the "Yankees would have to give up a top prospect or two."

- He said that Bronson Arroyo could be a backup plan for the Yanks. "Cincinnati made him available near the end of a dreadful 0-6 road trip. But the guess is the Reds would have to eat a significant portion of the $17 million remaining on his deal. So far they aren't volunteering to do that."

- As for Roy Halladay, he says the Yanks chances to land him "remain slim" but they're still talking to the Jays. Again he said they won't trade both Hughes and Chamberlain, but would be willing to trade one of them.

Im just hoping the Red Sox don't pick up anything too good. I think we have the upper hand right now but a big pickup on their side might give them that advantage.

Arroyo blows. In 6 of his last 10 outings, he pitched 5.1 innings or less and gave up 5 earned runs. (including one game of 3.2 innings)

We should just take Well's contract and get Doc for free basically

No I hope the yanks dont trade either Hughes or Chamberlain. They just spent 161 million on an ace and 80 million on a number 2. I would be so mad if they trade Hughes or Joba, Yanks finally have a couple of talented home grown young arms.

One AL scout said he'd offer Chamberlain, but not Hughes. "I think Hughes is going to be good, but Joba I wonder about. He hasn't learned his lesson from showboating yet. In fact, he's gotten worse. He's extremely talented, but I just wonder whether he'll break down."

LOL @ this scout, yes yanks should trade Joba because of fist pumps.

Chamberlain has been the much better starter than Hughes. They are about the same in the bullpen. Joba has been a better starter than Bucholz and is 2 years younger. He has been better than David Price as a starter. I dont understand all the negativity about Joba. But people rip Joba and praise Bucholtz as being a future ace.

The yanks should trade for Justin Duchscherer. They can put him in Triple A and then can use him in September. Oakland is only looking for a decent prospect nothing too ridiculous.

Second on Duchschererere.

HALLADAY. PERIOD.

as long as they can some how make another move for an 8th inning guy...Hughes and a couple prospects for the best pitcher in baseball is a no brainer!!!!
